Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

You’ve just said above it’s his job to break up play

A holding midfielder needs to move the ball quickly

He stood on it allowed defenders to get in shape went sideways got it back stood on it again

A holding midfielder should be playing progressive line breaking passes that put the team on the front foot and put the defence team on transition having to turn around and run back to their own goal when the midfield is split

He did not do thay

So YES. A defensive midfielder is crucial in breaking down a team
😂

Andorra had 11 men behind the ball. Their centre forward was picking up Henderson!

No matter how fast you pass the ball they are already going be be in shape if they hardly ever attack!

Clueless.

Who was Newcastle captain when they blew the league? Not Keegan!

You can rarely blame an individual player for a teams failings.
I was responding to NR' s post....

"A couple of bad results heads go down and that’s when you need leadership"

Obviously Henderson's leadership wasn't enough to get them over the finishing line.

I don't dispute he's been a great player in his day, but your rating him " excellent" against Andorra shows rose tinted specs. We plodded against the #173 team in the world and just scraped by. The team were dire and he was no better or worse than the others.

Would he have joined us? Dunno, but it seems he was never on our radar.

As I said, good luck to him and if he plays I'll applaud him on August 30th, but I think his best days are gone .....

He still played next to no line splitting passes.

Fuck me keith you called me knowledge you don’t even know what a DM is supposed to do against low blocks

He would have been a strong asset for us, pathetic people saying he is sh1te cos we didn't get him.
Also the worst player against Andorra was the Mag lump in defence.
But I trust our ownership totally, they have done a brilliant job by sticking to a solid game plan regardless of what happened in the short term.
Even if we go down I am sure they will have mechanisms in place to bounce back stronger.

Rumour is that he's moving to and declaring for Andorra ... will be 45 when the residency and naturalisation criteria have been met, and at that point he'll dominate the Andorran midfield.

Because he is right, love the way you think everyone thinks like you.Loads of posts supporting Keiths view
So Keith from the SMB, who has just admitted a few posts ago that he's judging Henderson's current ability on a single game against Andorra. Knows more than the SAFC recruitment team, who have had succession planning in the club for the last few years when in comes to signing players.

OK.

Reading some of the threads before we started doing business, we'd be starting the season with Neil, Rigg, O'Nien and Mundle as the first 11 and signing squad players on the cheap to support them because 'they got us up and deserve a chance'. Thankfully those people aren't in charge. No space of sentiment in business.
I think everyone at Norwich on the opening day of the season following the Swindon fiasco wad agree
