Should we target a trophy next season?

So you are telling me as they started progressing they weren’t aiming to win the competition? Were they just playing for bantz?
Aye they got relegated on 9 points but they gave it up to not even make the semis of a cup.

Gan to bed. School starts early tomorrow.

Stop up next season is the priority, talk of winning a trophy in our first season back in the premier league is crazy talk:eek:
How!? It looks like we'll have almost an entire new team of highly rated players, if they adapt to this level I don't think we would be any worse than say Crystal Palace, who won the cup.

If I was the manager I would be telling the players I will settle for no less than a Europa spot and a cup final. None of this pathetic survival mentality in my changing room!

So you have confirmed they got to the quarters on 2 different occasions. So it’s not beyond the realms of reality is it 🤣

Obviously staying up is the main priority, but I’d absolutely love us to go for a trophy and take them both seriously. Being a prem side with some big signings so far, there’s absolute no reason why with a bit of luck in the draw we can’t compete.

Obviously the FA cup would be preferable, but would settle for the Mickey Mouse trophy instead. All the big teams chucked it last season, so there’s definitely an opportunity to be had there.

Hmm is staying up the priority. I’d take a cup win personally over that. I know plenty think otherwise but at the end of the day all that really matters is honours won

Oh dear sad mag bastard

I always think we should be having a proper go at the cups when we’re in the Prem and we have less fixture congestion, personally. A kind draw and a couple of massive performances and it’s something we’d remember for the rest of our lives.

Pretty unlikely we’d actually win one, but it’s not a ridiculous idea to take it seriously.

This post is typical of people being carried away, although probably just on this site if truth be known, if we avoid being relegated it will be a massive achievement.

We will shock them all and they will learn to fear us, oh yes they will.

For some reason when I read this I imagined you shouting into the void as the nurses held you down and tightened the straightjacket while the doctor administered a nice, fat syringe full of Valium.

A club this size should be targeting a trophy every year. There are obviously many sides who can win things so it's not likely but possible and we should go for every game like its our last.

This is delusional.

We’ve signed a bunch of players for c. 20m each (which whilst admirable) needs to be put in context that proven players are going for 50-60m each.

Palace have proven international players like Eze and Guehi. Those two alone are currently worth more than our entire squad.

Anything between 17-14th next season will be a huge achievement.

To be fair about 3 weeks ago I hoyed a cheeky fiver on (each way) for the lads to win the league for a laugh

Alternatively you could have achieved exactly the same outcome by sending it to me and I could have got more fruitful use from it using it to light my fire.
