I hope they not taking advice from this new goalkeeping coach we've just got from Wolves and he's advising us too sign his mate. It's to believe we've went from Bulka and Petrovic who were statistically very good, to now allegedly Ramsdale and Johnstone, just seems a scattergun approach.

I think its a pretty interesting point of the summer now. Lost out on a few targets and don't seem to be able to get a striker over the line yet.

Interesting to see how much we have left available and how far we improve the areas left. Will it be filler or £20m players.

I think people go way over the top with how they judge some players. Imo Patto is in that category, last season for example he had a poor month where he was making mistakes , other than that he was pretty solid. You read on here and it's like he was terrible all season and that wasn't the case

Patto absolutely deserves his chance.However we desperately need a competent keeper who can challenge him or come in to steady the ship if things aren't going great.Ramsdale or Johnson don't really inspire to do either imho however I would be happy to be proven wrong if either becomes a Sunderland player.

It’s not like we’ve been linked with loads of strikers, so I don’t think it’s fair to say we’ve not been able to get one over the line

Fair enough about Bułka and Petrovic

Nah i just mean like weve been linked to a few and had allegedly a few bids rejected. The club doesn't exactly have a good record at finding strikers either really over the last few years.

Lets see but there's alot more that's still needed. Looking forward to seeing how we appoint it.

Aye still a few areas where you’d say we are desperate to improve just to have a chance of stopping up. As a bare minimum we need GK, right back, centre half and striker. Gonna have to be some sales soon, wouldn’t be a massive shock if we sold one of Neil or Rigg.
 
It's lazy journalism. Think need to give our recruitment a bit more credit to think they'd do that.

Goalkeepers often shine when their defence is shite as they have plenty to do, especially shot stopping which is the bread and butter of goalkeeping.

Think Pickford for us, for instance.

I‘m not sure he is. Johnstone has had many decent seasons in his career. I don’t want him like but he’s more solid and less error prone than Ramsdale.

How many of the signings we have made have been after rumours?
NONE. When they indentify targets they are normally out of the blue and completed swiftly.
Nothing more than media rumours

Patto had a good play offs but he makes quite a few mistakes, his kicking / distribution is woeful and we will need that on counter attacks. His handling from corners is cack too.

This. He is also very slow on starting the play after a save. Im not mentioning it just because of the 8 second rule but also since I think we gonna counter attack a lot. So even if he is a good keeper I dont think he will be good enough and suit our playing style at all.
