England v India - Third Test, 10/07

Haines is definitely the next cab on the rank and the one whose stats over the last couple of seasons warrant a call up. He may get his opportunity. I don't think county cricket is necessarily the best guide and all of the aforementioned Jennings, Burns, Stoneman, Hameed etc have all been selected under the some basis. However country cricket and the Lions is the benchmark we have and he's the obvious shout.
Stats are irrelevant and that’s the problem.

Sorry

.

I really shouldn’t react but do

Then on come the pile on from the usual suspects. I may deserve it but I bet my bottom dollar all those who do ridicule would be exactly the same or run to the mods

You lied clearly though about me never been seen on this forum

Sorry but you did. Now you won’t see me as your wish is being delivered

And no you are not on ignore as you ain’t a mag
I'll be totally honest mate - I don't really take notice of names on here, other than when replying back and forth like we are now. I could just as easily be arguing with you on the Cricket forum, then agreeing with you on Pure Football and acting like you are a good mate. It's an internet forum, it's not real life and to that end, names don't really register for me.

I like you

If ive said anything to upset you i'm sorry :(
I care to much and hate when things go like this

I make a point and some debate but others love a pile on to ridicule

They know who they are and they’ve delivered as usual on this thread

I can’t be arsed to justify myself so let the game continue and I hope everyone enjoys it

Fair comment and that’s the finish

You’ll get likes though if you ridicule me.

Go canny

Yes lets do it. who's your favourite out of the failures? lees with his 23 test average is having a good season? Out of all of the abject failures lees is probably my favourite. Hameed always looks like a fish out of water for England but his form maybe warrants yet another chance. Jennings for a fourth time could be a shout? true his previous 2 comebacks haven't been very successful but third time lucky - that's what i say.

Jennings appears (from the streams I’ve watched, no idea what the stats are) to be having a bit of a difficult year.

Lees would’ve had a much better Test average than Crawley in my view if he’d had half as many chances as Crawley, but I’m selfish so I’d rather he stayed at Durham.

I reckon Sibley deserves another go, he seems to be really comfortable with his own game, he’s much more mature now, I think of all the players in county cricket he probably deserves it the most. Unfortunately he probably doesn’t score his runs quickly enough, in England’s eyes.

What are people’s thoughts on allowing a sub wicket keeper to come on? Being a specialist position and all that…

Worst average for any batsman in the history of Test Cricket to have played 50 Tests.

It’s barmy to think he’s played 56 Tests

Obviously feels well at home there.
For people that have batted 1-6 only two players with more than 3000 runs averages less than Crawley at 30.98

They are Habibul Bashir at 30.87 and Grant Flower at 29.79.

As far as opening the batting only 4 players have a worse average than Crawley 30.19 with more than 2000 runs

Don’t see it being an issue if the keeper is injured to be fair. It’s not like this is going to lead to teams taking the piss and taking their assigned keeper off the field for 10 overs at a time.

It’s interesting as it favours a touring team. England wouldn’t have a spare keeper hanging around
