Kyle Walker "never struck me as a leader" is the key bit there actually. I wouldn't want Henderson starting for us, as I've said lots, I suspect he probably is past it (although Ajax fans still love him and he was in the last England squad...). But it's his leadership and off the field presence I would want to bring in. I don't think you get that from Walker (who incidentally, Burnley fans think will be starting for them next season from what i've read). There's also a massive difference in the wages for Kyle Walker, and a Henderson coming back to his old club.

If Henderson wanted standard PL wages I wouldn't go anywhere near him. I would expect him to be significantly cheaper then he could demand elsewhere, as he will know that moeny can and shout be spent elsewhere on the squad.

I would be a no, but you're missing his value of the pitch as a passionate fan with buckets of experience he can impose on the youngster we're bringing in. Hee'd be a coach/occassional player for me but I'm not convinced that's what he'll be after with playing for England still.

Honestly anyone that can’t see that a move for Henderson could be good for the club as a whole are maybe kidding themselves. We can argue all day about what capacity he plays at or how much he is involved but you can’t deny he would be a sensible addition.

If he is not coming it’s a massive mistake for the club.

I think some need to swallow their pride at the club and realise the difference he can make. He knows way more about the premier league than those this making the decisions and would likely be the difference of staying up or going down.

He's basically going to be a squad player wherever he ends up. He's 35, and no club are going to be building their tactics or formation around him at that age. He's got to accept that.

Maybe he thought the club would get the bunting out and have the armband ready for him, but the DoF we've brought in and the board look as if they have other ideas.

Let's not forget that there's plenty of leadership and grit In the squad already. These lads have fought their way to 2 promotions and have a mentality that sees them refuse to give up. I'm not sure they need much hand holding from Henderson tbh.

That's up there with ' a friend who knows someone in the club told me' and ' a good friend of JH told a lad my friend knows ' in terms of reliability factor.

I’m not convinced we do have a lot of leadership. A great group of lads got us up but who, other than O’Nien was a leader?

Onien, Neil, Mepham, Browne, and Hume all looked to have a say on the pitch as well as off it. Diarra was captaining his side before coming here, the others coming in have a fair amount of European experience.

This whole bring Hendo in to babysit the young'uns is pretty much bollocks anyway. What's he going to do if we're 18th in the league and 3 nowt down at half time with our backs to the wall, tell the lads how he won the Champions League with Liverpool?...he's basically had none of that kind of experience in the PL since he left us as a kid himself!....he may need someone to hold his hand when he has to play for a side that doesn't have the best players or the lions share of possession.

I don’t think it is. Because Leadbittet was finished Hendo isn’t. You’re basing your view on the fact Hendo is finished. There is no evidence to that effect.
I doubt anyone expects him to be at what was his peak, but conversely no one expects a passenger.
One size does not fit all. Leave it to the experts to work out.
He’s less of a risk that many a player with history of injuries

I agree but for every Steve Bold there’s a Glenn Loovens, Kenny Cunningham, Alan Stubbs, Stan Varga.

Let’s be honest, none of the movers & shakers at the club KLD, KS, FG or RLB have any attachments, emotional, historical, or otherwise with Henderson. I’m in no doubt that they will make a decision based on what’s in the best interests of the club. I’m in the BHH camp for what it’s worth.
 
No player should be guaranteed games, as players form dips or improved..that should be the baseline for your inclusion in the team otherwise where's the incentive for players not in the starting line up
