Wayne Rooney - sacked

“And it’s erm….a really good strike erm….but the keeper erm…has got a good hand erm….on it to keep it out”
Could be worse. It could you know be Darren Williams you know and even though you know I like the lad you know he's you know frustrating you know to listen to when he's you know on the radio

BBC are giving him a pundit slot. He says 'erm' every other word, and 'obviously' every 4th word and just generally talks like he has a tin of beans in his gob.

Go figure.

I always liked MoTD, even when we were back in L1 I would watch it every week. I liked Lineker, preferred him to Des even. I remember my late dad coming to get me out of bed to watch it with him when I was a kid "don't tell your mam...." he'd say, so fond memories of the show.

But this, Rooney ffs, what on earth are they thinking? He's been on a few times, fair enough I thought, he's out of work as he's a shit manager, but that must have been enough for them to realise he has no particular insight, a monotonous voice, and the personality and charisma of an over laundered sock. Poor poor choice from the BBC, this.

I do wonder if people watch the same stuff as I do or whether it’s just regurgitating what their mates have said in the pub or what they’ve read in the sun?

I find he’s a cracking pundit and offers a load of insight into the game, he’s done it all at club level. He’s canny funny as well. Wipes the floor with other pros of his generation who are now pundits, Richards, Sturridge, Ferdinand, Hargreaves et al.

I fully expected him to be an absolute potato but every time I've seen him I've been surprised. He's a good pundit tbh, certainly far far better than I ever thought he would be.

Not commenting on the reported money he's getting as I don't massively care.

Disagree on Sturridge who I have liked the few times I've seen him, but otherwise totally agree
