Stick to Cricket

I thought that sounded complete bollocks personally

3 days of training and he's getting a 3 year deal on megabucks, and being fast tracked into their 2 biggest events of the year? He's a nobody in the USA, I am not buying that like.

Not the first time I’ve heard that story, he didn’t necessarily have to be big in the USA if they were looking to expand their reach across the world. WWE is big here and also in India & Australia for example.

Fair point but it's hard to see why they would have been so attracted to him before we get into the mega bucks statement.

He went for a trial, arranged by his agent - they probably didn’t know a thing about him before that conversation but they probably saw the PR opportunity.

If there’s one thing Vince McMahon has always been good at (sexual assault aside) it’s making money.

Thought this thread may have had a bit more traction. I've really enjoyed these podcasts and have rarely missed one (I gave Harsh Bhogle a miss as he's a tit).

Jack Russell was on last week, good value and great insight into wicket-keeping technique. Anyone who hasn't watched any and wants some suggested episodes, then I thought Wasim Akram was great, Aggers was good the other week, Boycott on form as usual and Harmison was decent.

I've listened to them all too except any Indian ones. Can't abide Vaughan fawning over them to gain traction on Indian socials. Bhogle is a piece of work too.

Pretty much the same here. I gave Shastri a listen despite not being a big fan of his, but was pleasantly surprised at how good humoured he came across. I don't intend on listening to any of the others. I also enjoyed Piers Morgan far more than I expected to, he's a badger.

The aggers and Russell ones were great.

Russell in particular has done good insights to keeping and it’s mad he’s not a keeper coach somewhere.

I’ve generally followed the progress of the podcast, but I have to say, it’s far too sanitised and ‘sponsored’ for my liking. They’re all paid handsomely by Sky and they’re fully indoctrinated into the whole franchise phenomenon to ever say anything particularly controversial. Nor are they ever going to challenge the status quo.

Unfortunately the BBC one has become even worse. They seemingly don’t bother whatsoever with county cricket now, because they’ve launched a number of pods on the IPL since the Championship started and this year was the first I’ve known where they didn’t even have a proper Champo preview pod.

Personally, I prefer Talksport, especially because they do a weekly county cricket pod that is regularly filled with proper cricket journalists. It’s funny really, because I absolutely cannot stand the channel when it comes to football, but credit where it is due for their cricket coverage.

Notable mentions also to Wisden and the Final Word.

None of the Stick to Cricket lot work for Sky, you have 3 BBC and Bumble. I get your point though, they aren't hugely out on a limb on anything but even so it's decent crack.

I listen to the Sky Sports Cricket podcast with Atherton and Hussain which is good but even more watered down I'd say. Key got off very lightly when he was on the other week.

Agree on Talksport though, the County Cricket stuff is really refreshing and Harmison is good value if not a bit of a waffler at times.

The TMS podcast is decent during the summer and thankfully has Aggers to show a bit of discontent from time to time.

The Lalit Modi one… what an arrogant wanker he is. However, it’s a really interesting listen at the same time.

I turned it off after two minutes when he started talking about his motivation that was his Dad never bought him a Ferrari, so now he buys his son a new one every birthday. Prick.
