Petrovic

Obviously leaked early in the hope another club came in, set of absolute *****, never mind nowt wrong with setting the bar high, no doubt we’ll get a “here we go” with some one out of the blue

Fingers crossed he’s class 🤞

It's obviously a lot of money, but not a lot really in premier league terms, especially not for a key position like keeper.

Look through the league and almost everyone will have someone there who if they didn't cost this much or more, would certainly cost more to buy now. And those who don't are after this same player!

The club has pulled off this incredible achievement of getting promoted despite having one of the smaller budgets in the championship.

Now we're in a position where our squad assembled mostly from the academy and the bargain basement will get going up every week against sides with 25m+ players in almost every position!
I just mean in terms of is he worth the outlay? I'm not sure. He's obviously good like.

I’d be gutted if we signed him.

Everyone has views on players and you like us all are certainly entitled to your opinion. Out of interest why do you not rate the lad? He was very good last season, was he not voted in the Championship Team of the season?

Edit: He wasn’t it was Trafford…. Sorry

I guess what I'm saying is if he's good enough to be a strong first choice goalkeeper in the premier league, then yes by definition he's worth 30m - pounds or euros.

The club has to decide if it can afford that or if it thinks it can find a good enough keeper cheaper, that we can only guess at really.

Defoe went to Bournemouth because we were relegated. I thought that was bad enough.

However, if this goalie would rather play in a football backwater with 11000 fans than in a football hotbed like the North East with 45,000 fans then we have dodged a bullet. He clearly doesn’t think he could make a difference for us. As for Bournemouth, they will slip out of the Prem at some point over the next few seasons.
They’ve got clubs like Real Madrid Liverpool and psg buying their best players off them. Clearly not a bad development route is it?

Hasn’t took long for the arrogance to kick back in on here has it 🙄

Me after the on-again-off-again Bulka stuff: "I'm not falling for that again"

Me, today: "Overblown reports that he's going to Bournemouth, he's coming to us!"

This.

In footballing terms, Bournemouth are a million miles ahead of us at the moment - in fact they are exactly where we are aiming to be.

We'll either have to offer more money or a very compelling vision of why we'll be ahead of them in the next couple of years.

I don’t agree that it’s a MUCH better place. Slightly better yeah

no Europe, lost most of their main defence and if a team underperforms high chance their manager gets poached

our ambition from KLD this season is to be ‘no where near relegation’ now that likely won’t happen, but we’ve shown we won’t stand in the way of players

also a good place for a keeper to show how good they are

How do you know we will be no where near relegation?😂

Fuck sake.

Always felt unlikely once it dragged on and on. I felt that the fact it was all over the media it meant that someone was leaking the info to try and raise the price/ get more people invovled. Also on that podcast that bloke said that Sunderland released the information "to make people think it was further away then it was" which is f***ing illogical when you think about it - there's nowt to gain from that.

Hopefully we have another back up plan, and also the club can get the Lyon lad over the line - as it feels very similar to this (and Bulka before that) in that it's. all over the media.
Probably Petrovics agent. Sounds like it would work in his favour

To be fair, a player's agent isn't doing his job if he's not leaking it.

Even if not to the press, he's going to tell all possible interested clubs about it hoping they might come along with a better offer.
Yeah but if the player really wanted it, it would be all wrapped up before it even leaked in the press, same as other deals
Not really. Sunderland could have played it down because they knew he was waiting for better offers before agreeing final sign off to come.
You’ve lost me. What’s the benefit of telling the media anything vs. being silent if that was the case?
