Bizarre situation in the Northants v Lancashire game, at the end of the first over of the Lancashire innings the bat gauge was brought onto the field and the umpires have deemed that Phil Salt’s bat is illegal… now, I’m on a delay, so I don’t know the outcome, but commentators seem to think it’ll mean penalty points as opposed to any sanction in the current match. Could work well for us in the long run if Lancashire beat Northants, denying the hosts points in the table but then get those points deducted from themselves

Durham got deducted 10 points when Nic Middinson's bat was deemed illegal in a CC game, the ECB should deduct Lancs the same I reckon

It has to be said that we seem to have built/developed a very handy T20 side this year.

The bowling especially has pretty much everything you need at this format. A couple of strike bowlers with pace in Foulkes and Neesham (who also doubles up as a more than capable big hitting allrounder), three spin options of different variety - the mystery spin of the Lighthouse, the fairly orthodox Parkinson who to his credit can vary his pace and flight and the occasional stuff of Ackermann who I believe holds the world record for T20 bowling figures . On top of that, Aldridge took wickets tonight, I put him more in the Ben Raine bracket of pace off line and length stuff - it has to be said, this attack will be even better when Raine gets back to fitness.

Ackermann’s batting tonight was excellent, I think Robinson is a huge talent too but as yet he hasn’t realised that in 2025 from what I’ve seen. I think McKinney will shine but as yet we haven’t seen it.

More rambling from me, but lots of reasons to be excited about this team.

Well, I’d be surprised if it’s any less than 4, which I believe is the amount gained for any win in this format.
