Eng vs India - First Test - 20th-24th June

Rahul instead of Crawley Jaswal (although tight with him over Duckett) then Gill over Pope Pant over Smith, Kuldeep, over Bashir and even possibly Siraj, so along with Burmah the majority over ours.

Plus I think they have more depth in terms of batting replacements and definitely in terms of spinning replacements.

Gill bats 4, Pope 3.

Pant bats 5, Smith 7.

Kuldeep isn’t playing

Siraj over who?

I mean, you said “player for player” and then picked a bloke who isn’t even playing

You might aswell have said you’d have Tendulkar over Pope at 3.

In a mixed XI I'd go with:

Jaiswal
Rahul
Gill
Root
Brook
Stokes
Pant
Jadeja
Carse
Bumrah
Siraj

Duckett maybe a little unfortunate. Bumrah apart, the seam bowling attacks are weak for test match cricket.

Not really Kuldeep a better bowler than Bashir?

if you want to go for players currently playing could put Jadeja over Bashir.

Not sure what funny about it as both better spinners than Bashir, think that fair to say

It doesn’t have to be the positions they batting now Gill could easily bat 3 and Pant could easily bat 7, so it’s perfectly fair argument to say there better options at 3 and 7 then Pope and Smith, although just an opinion.

I think both openers better options but could be swayed saying Duckett better than Jaswal so close call.

As for Siraj it’s tight call between him and any of our pace attack so that not a really a issue as could be argued either way

Yeah good and fair shout

Hardly anyone there. Can only assume people put off by the poor weather forecasts given the 4 days we've had and what could happen today.
Hopefully time yet for some "Leeds would take more" locals to turn up.

Ha'way England.

Indeed, but most of our better seamers are currently in rehab mode. I’m not sure India have better than they’re currently fielding.

They should’ve made it free entry. Typical Yorkshiremen trying to promote £20 as ‘value’, thinking you’re doing people a favour.

Unless people are looking elsewhere forecasts I'm seeing say more chance of no rain each hour, and with sunny spells.

Mind, even a full day I'd not expect us to win.
It was meant to be raining at 11am but nothing has shown up

Load of shite these forecasts at times.

If I didn’t have work I’d be straight down the M1 again

Well that’s more than fair a fully fit Wood and Archer for example would have Siraj not in a combined side, as only Burmah would make a combined pace attack with all fit

I fancied the draw pre match in this thread. If we do lose overs , then that may be the result

Imo England will come out better for the run if it dors , going into test 2

And a morning All

Duckett over Rahul for me, him and Jaiswal are the best openers in the world at the moment imo
