Im still going to cross back over into town using the Wearmouth bridge, once the novelty wears off of the Keel bridge I think people will do likewise, plus there's less chance of catching covid.

This will annoy some people, but IMO it'd be nice if at some point we could get rid of wearmouth bridge and build something unique and amazing.
It's basically just a smaller knockoff of the Tyne bridge, we can do better. We could also have more lanes to improve traffic flow in our prosperous, bustling city!

It was actually built before the Tyne Bridge to prove the design worked. Then the Tyne Bridge itself was a trial for the Sydney Harbour Bridge. All basically the same bridge in increasing size.
The Tyne bridge construction started two years earlier, GOM! In 1925.
Edit: Wearmouth bridge is grade 2 listed anyway. I guess we'll have to build one alongsde it!

All of those were basically copies of Hells Gate bridge in New York, which was started in 1912.

I think the crossing part of the name will often be dropped, so people will just say "Should we gan ower Keel?" or "You going across Keel?" etc
Or 'Are you gonna Keel ower?'

I thought the Wearmouth was bigger than the Tyne? It has more lanes I know that.

Because that's what people do, they won't always say "Keel Crossing". Have you never used or heard someone say "Head ower the Queen Alex" or "head ower the Wearmouth" as people drop the actual part of what something is?

I'm talking about in general conversation so people will know what you mean. Have you've never heard anyone say for example "Queen Alex" when about directions or where they were going when something happened. Or has it's always "Queen Alexandra Bridge" for you?
"I was coming along Dame Dot and headed ower the Wearmouth and there was a crash at the roundabout" is a quick example of part of a conversation as that gives context to the name without having to say bridge after it.
I have heard the queen Alex before as it really shortens it,but never the wearmouth

Less likely to get wet sinking in to the Wear too. Although it'll probably be sound first game of the season, but come the last game of the season people will need wellies apparently.
The club are going to sell bridge tickets for match days, turnstile system will be in place only allowing curtain numbers on the bridge at any one time. Bit extra revenue to pay for Henderson’s salary.
