I sincerely hope he has a brilliant career. As soon as he shaped up to shoot i knew it was in, watched a lot of him on U21 streams and it's his trademark goal.
Such a shame to have lost him, he's got all the attributes to have a top level career.
That skills thing they did with him Riggy, Isador and Mayenda he stood out as having by far the best technique but with a very understated demeanor
I keep telling people about this but haven’t been able to find it since. It takes his goal to another level for me. It wasn’t an in the moment attempt of hope, it was a well practiced, perfectly executed shot which he knewSome time after the playoff final there was a link on here to a youtube clip of Tommy Watson practising the exact same shot from which he scored. Training alone supervised by a coach, he must have put it in the net 10 times.
Anyone still got the link?
Should be put on a Sheff Utd forum. It would piss them off a treat.I keep telling people about this but haven’t been able to find it since. It takes his goal to another level for me. It wasn’t an in the moment attempt of hope, it was a well practiced, perfectly executed shot which he knewhe could do.
What a lad.
I see we found it![]()
There’s a vid from a fans’ phone behind & to the left of the goal which is unreal. I had to watch it 1/2 a dozen times to believe it actually went in, the trajectory of the ball at the 6 yard line indicates it’s going wide (& not by a bit), what happens thereafter beggars belief…I’ve watched that 20 times and I’m still thinking ‘it’s not going in’ unreal![]()
Not itk by any means but the story I’ve heard is he simply wanted to get his dad a house to make him financially secure, the move enabled Tommy to do this straight away. He sounds a quite canny ladThe transfer seems bizarre to me. Why was he so desperate to leave so soon?
Just watched it 25 or so times again. I still can’t get over how good of a strike it was. Le Fee collapsing. Roberts immediately buzzing in shock. Ballard wanting to get up into the celebration. Cirkin letting Watson run past to celebrate.
I want it all tattooed across my back.
I especially revel in Tom Davies reactionAs a comparison to your tattoo "work of art" - the response and body language of the Sheffield Utd players is an (unsurprisingly) picture of dispair.
As Le Fee collapses it looks like Moore is about to too.
The rest of them just turn away and avoid each others gaze.
There's a real sense of "that's it, it's over".
Unreal still get goosebumpsPicking people out in the crowd during the build up, and their reaction after it goes in, goosebumps every single time

I am exactly the same. I think Tommy is a superb player, I’ve loved watching him in youth cup and PL2 games over the years, he’s got so much talent. However… I’m not sure that he will get to the very, very top of the game, so that might well be the top highlight of career. I hope that he has spent some time over the past few weeks really letting what he has done sink in, and appreciating the enormity of what it means to so many people. To score the winning goal at Wembley happens a few times a year, to score it in injury time is very rare, to score it for your boyhood club is almost unheard of, and do it as a teenager for a club like Sunderland in a game as important and massive as that…. WOW!I sincerely hope he has a brilliant career.
I love to see local lads do well.
I watched the final of the Super Rugby tournament this morning. As soon as the final whistle went, they started playing Freed from Desire on the stadium PA system, cue totally random scenes of pandemonium in a quiet house in the middle of KentIn the car yesterday, Heart 70s on radio, Rocket man came on, immediately conjoured the images of Tommy curling the ball in and the ensuing pandemonium![]()
A Southampton season ticket holder who is a good mate at work said "The 1st goal you scored was a great strike, but not so much the 2nd one" I just started laughing saying "What? He bent it perfectly into the only gap it could have gone. Yes it wasn't hit at 100MPH but how is that not a good strike?"Just watched it 25 or so times again. I must have watched it more than 100 times now, and I must confess that every time I see it I think to myself -“how did it go in?”. Any faster and the spin wouldn’t have curled it enough, any slower and it wouldn’t have got past the keeper by the time his fingertips got there. Any loft and the friction of the grass wouldn’t have allowed the ball to bend in the way it did. A few inches left and the keeper would have got it, a few inches right and it would have hit the post. And finally a fraction of an inch difference to the contact on his boot and it wouldn’t have done what it did. And he did it from 20+ yards in the 95th minute of the richest club game in football in the world’s most iconic stadium, in front of his own fans. I see what he means - “not so much the second one”A Southampton season ticket holder who is a good mate at work said "The 1st goal you scored was a great strike, but not so much the 2nd one" I just started laughing saying "What?
