Eng vs India - First Test - 20th-24th June

Woakes - 15 4's in 17 overs going at nearly 5.
Carse - 10 4's in 14 overs going nearly 4.5
Tongue - going at over 4.5 with 9 maidens.

Stokes has stood out by a mile today as test quality.
Bash has done a job on a day 1 pitch despite the fact I don't think he's ready or should be playing.
Haven’t watched all day but Carse bowled okay from what I saw. A couple of boundaries down to third man and the four overthrows from Pope came off his bowling as well.

Woakes and Tongue have been appalling.

Let’s get this right. England had a bit of freak year in 2022. Apart from that they’ve been utter shite since 2019 across all formats.
They have won 22 out of 35 tests under Stokes so think they have been at the very least reasonable in test cricket even by they worst critic.

‘ Utter shite’ in test cricket is just plain wrong

Shite in other two formats and above average in test cricket would be a fairer statement in that period?

So the way I see it. 2023 they decided to throw away a win in NZ. THAT declaration. We were unbelievably fortunate not to lose the 2023 Ashes at home. 2024 we played against the whipping boys, and still conspired to lose to Sri Lanka and we got belted all over in India. The NZ series win was a good achievement. But for me, that’s nothing to shout about since 2022.

Utter shite is 1 in 17 before them funnily enough they get more criticism now

We would have won the ashes but for two solid days of rain never mind ‘unbelievablely’ fortunate not to lose.

We were knackered before we went to India our spin attack was men against boys.

In fact would go as far as saying the only series we really struggled were in alien Asian conditions were the spinners of the opposition were far superior to ours.

So in no way can that be described as utter shit and whichever way you look at it 22 wins out of 35 is a massive improvement from 1 win in 17.

The facts speak for themselves.

The FACT is England are 6th out of 9 in the URL test rankings above only WIndies,Pakistan and Bangladesh. Nothing to get euphoric about. Asides about golf are clearly tongue in cheek but prompted by England's leaderships constant reference to golf.

This was always looking likely with Broad and Anderson nearing the end of their international careers. No one remotely good enough to replace them.

Toothless today really. Bashir always going to struggle against India, don’t think he did anything wrong in particular.

India looked great, mind.
