Sheff Wed - financial issues

Nowt would surprise me mate....honestly...Sabella....'79...boxing day...50k in Hillsborough 3rd division....bus strike, every f.ooker walked there, p*ssing down rain...only no show was Sabella....4-0 Wednesday...happy days...
Just a little before my time...
Sheff U couldnt afford Maradona even though they were offered him for 400k. The club was in financial crisis after building the South Stand. Having been 6th in Division 1 in 1974/75 they were in Division 4 in 1981. All the young players were sold like Stainrod, Varadi, Edwards etc

Sounds like Sunderland descent but it was worse, and the same territory Wednesday could veer into now.
Don Givens flashback!!

A sad state of affairs.

Performance wise United have had the better of the past 25 years but Wednesday are 100% the bigger club. Not a chance they wouldn't sell out a playoff final at Wembley like their neighbours a couple of weeks back!
I agree. The Mickey Mouse club was a reference to ownership not the club and supporter base. It's frightening how a major club can be dragged down by an owner. I'm long time Sunderland and we've been close a couple of times.

I remember Tony Currie. Brilliant but I lived in Dronfield and heard a few stories.

I don’t even think they’ve got any pre season schedule lined up yet. Is that normal at this stage?

Seems an absolute mess at the moment.

In the case of Saudi Arabia, it was the Prime Minister who intervened and told the premier league to push it through.....Saudis threatened to withdraw billions of pounds worth or contracts otherwise.
And don't forget a certain MP using her parliamentary privilege to raise the matter during PMQ's making it a political issue AFTER the conglomerate had failed 3x the FA/PL "fit and proper person" test.

Games fucked, just another rich man's plaything to rinse the workers of their hard earned.

They seemed to have interested parties to buy them but their owner keeps moving the goalposts. Hopefully they find a solution to all this shite going on.

Sorry @Visiting owl .

You are fucked mate.

Genuinely no idea how you come back from this. 😔😔😔
Be reyt.
Boof. They can have Poveda on a free if they like.
We still couldn't afford him!!
Our old owner Milan Mandaric says he will fly to the UK to try and talk some sense into Chansiri and maybe try and get involved again.

Says he will forget about the money Chansiri owes him if we ever made the premier League if he will put it into the club!!😆
