SOL expansion

Some of your replies have been incredibly negative. What’s wrong with being ambitious and looking to expand? If you aim for the gutter you will find it.

Thankfully Sir Bob didnt listen to such negativity in the early 1990s
Simply because we need to consolidate, it’s not hard.

The club was on its knees 7 years ago. If we’ve been in the PL 5-7 years from now I’d be saying expand the shit out of the ground

This season will be mostly sold out if not all games. We can not afford to lock out kids.

SAFC is in a unique position in the premier league with the SOL being relatively easy to extend and relatively cheaply. Nobody experts the owners to start building tomorrow but I would like to hope it’s being looked at.

What would that prove?
It wouldn't prove anything, but it might suggest that our stadium capacity has been more than adequate for us for the last 24 years or so.

It may or not be big enough for us this season, time will tell, however there's another 2k seats that can be made available by moving away fans from the top tier. I think the club will do that before expanding capacity.

The fact we’ve never averaged anywhere near capacity

Hence my point to consolidate. This season is an outlier

Some might argue that Bob Murray's lack of investment on the pitch when we were flying high contributed.
You should listen to what sir bob says on that period. The extension cost £7m, Flo cost £8m.

He invested in infrastructure and with AOL that’s what made the club an attractive proposition for past and present owners.

You have a negative mindset, whatever people say you will argue the other. Hopefully the owners can see the potential.

I’m not advocating for expansion of capacity. But I’m certainly not taking it as fact that 47k is too big for us. Especially on the grounds of average attendance.

I think they'll look into if/when we're regularly selling out the stadium in its optimal configuration so that the full capacity of circa 48k can be realised.

There's an argument, and it's the same arguement Quinn made 24 years ago, that it's best to have a capacity that allows having a season ticket to be something you don't want to give up for fear of missing out.

The cheap seats for kids, capture a generation, arguement is pretty persuasive too though.
I wouldn’t like to go into a battle with you. :)
Ok mate, it's unlikely to ever happen so try not to worry too much about it.

I don’t know why some people are obsessed with adding corporate and seats for things like concerts, we’ve had some pretty big concerts here like Beyonce, take that, Oasis etc have you even looked at the accounts for those years to see what extra revenue it generated for the club because whilst it was welcome additional income it’s fuck all in the grand scheme of things it’s a bit of a extra pay check not something you’d spend tens of millions on just because Taylor Swift, one act who may not even have come anyway had we even had a spurs style stadium overlooked the stadium, it’s a a football ground first and foremost not a circus (some people may disagree with how things have panned since the Sol opened) but surely the club would be sensible to maximise revenues in its current state before taking big risks with infrastructure projects just as we’re entering the most crucial few years of its history

It's been too big for years, it's probably not too big for us now at this moment. If we stay up it's especially important to rescue the wasted seats caused by away fans being up top.

I would prefer them to see if they can sell the front of the upper North to away fans this season, if possible.

I come from an area where the opportunity to go to Roker Park and the SOL ensured people became SAFC and not mags. With the Saudis we have to make sure kids get the chance to get to the SOL.

We are in a unique position as we can relatively easyily extend and we need to considering maximising our USP.

There's some people, it might have been @Blyth, or his mate, who said that we should get the NFL to play games at the stadium.

Spurs do it, ya knar.

Wasn’t me. You’re having a mare 😂
Do you mean another tier, mate?
Of course
I have about as much idea is you. I’ve given you example. You just refuse to acknowledge it
I don’t. I acknowledge it being a daft suggestion and you haven’t thought it through.

I know when I've been unable to get to games over the last couple of decades or so, I can barely give my season ticket away.

Not sure what my point is, but I think we need to ensure there's decent and sustainable demand before extending the stadium.

Ok mate, i wasn't sure. Could have been your buddy.

You really need to learn to accept that, despite your inside info, others are allowed to make suggestions too. It's not as daft as suggesting Sunderland hosting NFL games. 😂
