SOL expansion

I can see an East stand expansion that is primarily corporate areas.

I'm not even sure if they will personally. The obvious thing would be to get the staff out of the West Stand and convert that first. There's plenty space in the Premier Concourse which could be corporate, especially the front row blocks which aren't the seats where the owners etc sit.

how about we spend the money to ensure we can compete and be stable in the PL first? The challenge next season is immense. The size of the stadium is not currently a part of that challenge
I don’t think the two are interconnected from a PSR standpoint so if KLD does manage to get new investors and this becomes their next 5-10 year plan I could see them extending to a) modernise the ground as falling behind and b) make the corporate and hospitality offering more indicative of a premier league stadium that intends to host the big events and concerts outside of just football.

Should they decide at the same time it’s worth adding more seats why not, I’d hope we could fill it with newer fans or people wanting to see more football premier league football in the future but would certainly help with concerts etc.

Biggest mistake they made in building the stadium was sinking the pitch below ground level. The space for concourses and corporate are massively impacted as a result. Went past the mags gaff the other day and the amount of people in and out of the big stand for a non-matchday was huge - loads of events going on that can generate revenue.

If you build it, they will come.
It’s been built for years and ‘they’ didn’t always come though. Understandably so because we’ve been shocking for most of the SOLs existence, which is why it’s best to wait to see what the future holds and see if there is a sustainable demand for it. In my opinion.

Is that not just the prep for Sam Fender’s gigs this weekend? I have the misfortune of driving past most days for work and never notice any particular activity.

All I remember from Roker kiosks (I was about 9 years old) was a tasteless mince pie and a bottle of villa pop, that’s as much as they had for bairns, it might be bad now but not that bad!
Yes I remember those days well, but my point is more about whether there is any incentive to carry out improvements for the rank and file supporters.
Many are willing to miss the reason they went ( the match itself ) in order to be able to buy what’s on offer in the concourses. So I doubt any money will be spent on that element when the big money is to be made in corporate offerings.
Football is a very different thing now.

Corporate needs adding to East & South Stands, maybe a small increase of capacity to 55,000 and that would be appropriate for a club of our size....Our current capacity will sell out every week in the PL if the club show some ambition, and I'm not talking about competing for the top 4, but just not being there to finish 17th every season

the concourses (exception of the west stand) could be quite easily extended. The SOL is essentially a steel frame. Build outwards.

As far fetched as it sounds if some mega rich country bought us and spent a billion quid on the team we'd not have any problem selling out a 63,000 expanded sol, it's very easy to sell tickets when the going is good.

Must be an idiot then. At this present moment in time the Stadium IS too small. And don’t get me started on the need to expand with regards to attracting the biggest gigs etc. Look around the country and you’ll see most clubs looking to make their stadium bigger and improve hospitality. There’ll be times this season where it’s sold out but there was demand for thousands more who can’t see the game. This is just off the back of getting promoted so if we have success what’s it going to be like then ? Some people need to start seeing the bigger picture.
We may well miss out on gigs in future when the scum build their ground on leazes park. That will be the number 1 spot for large concerts in the north east. We would need to expand before they finish and build a reputation up for huge shows.

An expansion and general upgrade of facilities would enhance the match day experience, especially for families and small groups.

Single tickets will likely always be available, but pairs and above, will be very rare and with little choice on where in the stadium.

Currently, I wouldn't want to spend a single minute longer in the stadium than I need to, which is commercially damaging/limiting
