SOL expansion

Sadly football clubs are more worried about their corporate sales and we probably need more to compete.
If we were to expand our corporate side we'd be stupid to not increase tthe capacity at the same time.
Yes we aren't exactly crying out for it now but attendances are on the up across the country and if we do survive this year or in a few years time get to the level where we survive in the Premier League it could come in handy.

It all about the corporate experience just take the page out of the NFL like it or not. It’s about the £££££

In my view the stadium is the right size. We rarely, if ever, sell out completely.

The place looks better full than with empty seats.

We should focus on building a great squad not on expanding a great environment.
We very rarely sell out because we've been on our worst run in the clubs entire history. (seasons out of the top flight)

Which other clubs would have sold out under those circumstances?

Even when we were in the Top Flight we rarely sold out completely.
10 year ago. Look at the crowds across football, it’s changed.

Compare our league one crowds we got to promotion under mic mac. 28k average for a title winning team and 33k in the prem. We got just as good and better crowds in league one.

Even under Keane our crowds weren’t much better than league one.

All apart from the new corporate offerings that have only just launched this week are already sold out despite significant price increases. Season tickets are on course for a sell out within days of going back on sale despite a significant price increase. Every match next season will be a sell out.

The amount of money you can spend on your team is now directly linked to how much revenue you club generates. The two are inextricably linked, if you want a better squad then you need to increase match revenue and our stadium is now a limiting factor to that when we're in the Premier League.

Any talk of expansion is wild talk. Said it before and don’t care about saying again, our hardcore support imo is the loyalist in the country pound for pound as proved by average crowds of 30-40k+ in recent years when we’ve been through the lowest ebb in our history spending years in the third and second tier - this on the back of no success or real good times whatsoever both of which build up sustainable numbers over time. But unless we’re consistently selling the SOL out over a number of years and there is a constant demand or waiting list, it’s an absolute waste of money and will just make the experience of being in the ground for those of us who attend no matter what worse if/when we fell on hard times and the 47k+ falls to 40k or less again.

We would need a run of successful seasons to warrant an expansion. That is to say top half finishes consistently.
Also, the extra revenue an expanded SoL might bring is peanuts compared to the TV money these days. It would be very hard to justify the cost of an expansion.
Having said that, I hope it happens one day because that means we have years of success to look forward to.

What’s the story with it ? There were a few rumours last year regarding this. I’m assuming that with all the work going on with sheepfolds then it could be a case of now or never in the next year or two regarding expanding the South Stand.
Let this go
. The stadium is big enough
.. what we should be doing is pushing out the concourse where possible to make pre match and half time an enjoyable experience ( and radically increase beer sales) .

Never known a fan base that wish to hold the club back cos they’re scared we might be shite again. Luckily the club don’t think that way
