Sunderland AFC U18s

It seems a bit strange that Finn Geragusian hasn't been offered/signed a pro contract. He seems the pick of the prospects and its not unusual for 17 year olds to be offered pro contracts. Maybe I've missed something but you'd think we would want to tie him down.
Might have attempted and not managed to agree to something yet, they might not rate as much as people here do and think there is no rush. There’s a few on here know the crack so might be able to say

Reading between the lines I wonder if the deal that they offered and secured Rigg on has put noses out of joint or embolden agents to go for bigger deals. I would guess that is why Cotcher didn't sign because he wasn't offered a Rigg type deal and remember that Watson didn't sign his straight away and, it was reported, that he chatted to one of the Old Form teams first. Agents obviously get hold of these lads and their parents early and you can only worry what they whisper in their ears. You would think that any young lad would be delighted at their first pro contract but it doesn't always seem to be the way now. Not that I'm suggesting this is the case with Geragusian.

Marcus Neill came on as sub for Australia u18 in a 3-0 defeat to France.
Interesting to see how the move up to Premier League status will affect the contracts for these lads. On the one hand it might make it more difficult for them to get pro or longer contracts as we’re more attractive to players from elsewhere. On the other there will be more money for bigger squads.

Really hoping we get him tied down. Often the stand out when I’ve watched u18s - superb attitude.
Transfermarket suggests June 2026 contract end??? Did wonder if this was one a bit like Rigg where they wait til 1 July and he signs a 3 year deal 🙏

Are you talking about Finn? If so then it’s that date because it’s the end of his scholarship

Generally the 2nd years will all find out about pros around March.
They can and often do offer one or two before that date though.
Strong group of new 2nd years so it wouldn't be surprising if that was the same this coming year

Good point a lot of the coming second year scholars played lions share of 18s and bloodied in the 21’s (felix , Marcus , fin holdcroft, Finn G , Archie , Bailey Joe Neild , Liam HUnt from what I can recall ..be interesting to see how the first years go for game time .. ? Any noticeable standouts ? A couple played up Charlie Forsyth and Alex Leinard ?

Tom Proctor played most out of the year below so him, Charlie and Alex the main ones I think

You can’t really say at that age who is going to be the ones who will progress further unless you’re on the level of Chris rigg. Get to second year of full time and then you see people start to separate. We had a player called Sonny Best with the u23s at a first year scholar, he was released the year later.

no, I meant those 3 would more than likely play the most out of the new 1st year's in the coming season.
Things change very quickly but nased on last season those 3 were the ones who played with the 18s the most
