It’s not your business - you don’t control Hendo’s life. This is not a communist regime. Hendo can sign for any private club in the world -=and he will make that decision based on what is best for him, his wife and kids. That is his right and his privilege - he doesn’t have to answer to you - as much as you’d like that! You should mind your own business!

If he had been up front and said he doesn’t give a shite about playing in the best teams, against the best teams, and he’s only interested in making as much money as possible I’d have a lot more respect for him.

Instead he made a thing for supporting women’s rights and LGBT rights. He was quite rightly applauded for this support of often persecuted groups.

Then, a nah of money is dangled in front of him. Already a multi/millionaire (so his kids weren’t hungry) he turned his back on everything he’d said and went for the lonely.

He then realised it was pretty crap out there and didn’t like it so he changed his mind, went to Ajax and picked up even more money on signing.

That does not make him a good role model. He would presumably get the captain’s armband if he joined. I’d far rather have Luke O’Nien (for example) as a role model for my children than Henderson, for reasons I’ve just written above.

I’m genuinely puzzled about why you can’t understand this. If you also lack morals and ethics you can of course disagree and say there was nothing wrong with his behaviour, but you don’t appear to understand the point.

I have never even suggested that I control Henderson’s life. What an idiotic thing to write.

I am entitled to post on a message board with my opinion, backed up with evidence.

I am also entitled to dislike any notion of Henderson re-signing. It would put me off following Sunderland to be honest if he did. I really don’t want hypocrites and players with no ethics as captain of the club I support.

I think you have a political agenda! We’re talking about a footballer from Farringdon who does his best for him and his family. He has done nothing wrong - no crime committed - and remember - you aren’t the judge!! You strike me as a very judgemental - and I find it preposterous to hear you looking down on a top guy like Hendo! If you think you are better than him - that is simply your opinion!

I haven't said I am better than him. But I'll tell you what I would never do though.... that's broadcast my support for women's groups, gay rights, LGBT etc.... and then as soon as I was offered money forget all that and work in a country with an utterly appalling track record to such groups. That is a person that lacks a moral backbone and puts money first. He's by far a better footballer than I am. Better looking, richer, fitter but I can look in the mirror and be proud of my ethics. He can't.

We are all allowed to judge football players and those in the public eye. The message board is full of such threads. So dry your eyes bonny lad. :rolleyes:

I have some sympathy for those that say if it was an every day Joe Public, who wasn't rich, then the offer of such wealth could be hard to turn down. But as has been pointed out, captains of Liverpool who have played in the team for a long time tend not to be boracic. He could have retired early without even noticing, but he dropped his morals n a heartbeat and took the money. That makes him a hypocrite.
