Dan Neil

I've watched a full replay twice .Suggest some should do the same .Neil wasn't shockingly bad . He did make a couple of misplaced passes but no more than his fellow midfielders . Not sure what he could have done for their goal, perhaps he could have wiped Hamer out .
He said he was cramping up badly from 55 minutes but didnt go off for another 15 minutes.
We looked better once he went off but that was more the change of shape than his performance . At that stage of the match we didn't need two defensive midfielders Jobe supported by Le Fee was much more effective .
Neil is more than worth his place in our squad for next season in the Premiership, especially if Jobe leaves .
Yeah he had a much better game when watching it back. Couple of daft wayward passes but other than that was absolutely fine.

Not for me. Jobe isn't and likely never will be the player some think he is. He was always coming here to get games and move on, so we never had a realistic long term chance of keeping him unless he was absolutely shite. He's been nowhere near as good or as effective for most if this season as some are suggesting for us and whilst his stock is high now is the time to sell. If it wasn't for his surname and physique there would barely be any interest.

Whilst Neil has got a truck load of stick for getting caught on the ball (something which barely happens anymore) Jobe has spent the last five months receiving the ball in mid to semi advanced positon, doing a 180' turn to facing his own goal and passed the ball backwards and barely recieved any.

Whether Neil progresses into a PL footballer or not he's about at our level and as a local lad there's a bit more leeway with him and more chance of keeping, so unless he won't sign a deal or unless we sign two or three midfielders it's pointless selling.

At the moment neither of them are PL quality footballers and I'm not sure either ever will be.
Jobe is shifting cos he aint good enough for prem. As you say he's no where near as good as some make out. Did offer a physical present and had a good shot on him but his on the ball ability is limited. Perfect time for us to sell him tbh

jury is still out on Dan Neil. Playing alongside a better centre mid may bring him on. Needs to lose the crazy decision making he sometimes posesses to stand a chance in prem. Always felt he would benefit from an experienced head alongside him for a season

I agree . No way did Jobe drive us to promotion. His role gets bigger every time I read a new article about him.

He was an integral part of the team but not a standout from the rest.

He looks like his brother, is built like his brother, but he is far more slow and ponderous with less technical skill.

He will undoubtedly improve but I would be surprised if plays regularly for England.

Neil,Cirkin and Hume are in the "wait and see how they cope with the prem" category for me like. No idea tbh,IF all three step up then you never know.

They’ll be fine. We need improving as a team but every time they go up a level they get better

I can’t believe Neil gets any stick man it’s laughable. He’s a major reason we have got promoted and he’s been a mint captain.

Jobe is 19 years old man....19 and he's just done 2 full seasons in the Championship and performed really well. He's got the potential to make the step up, comfortably.

When we played the mags in the cup we all hoped they’d step up and be competitive but apart from a Pritchard cameo late on, the only one on the day who didn’t look out of place was Dan Neil.

I think he will eventually but also agree with what the hedgehog says, he will be worth more now while his stocks high than he will after a season in the prem next year as I can't see him setting it alight. Love the lad but I think we can improve on him in the short term by cashing in

Whilst we will sign a few our chances of staying up seem to be in the hands of the core of the squad and whether they are capable of improving as players to contribute at premier league level. It’s a large ask, especially as some of them were in league 1 a few years ago!

Neil is a prime example. Can he boss a game in midfield in the premier league?

Well that's something else entirely man, I doubt having more scrutiny on scuffles in the penalty area is going to have any effect on Neil's game. Put him up against the scum's midfield in the middle of the pitch and try saying the game will be less physical than the Championship.
Championship is more physical prem more technical

Guess we will find out won't we ?
He's one of those connections RLB talks about. Local lad ,captain, living every supporters dream . RLB has a lot of faith in him . That's good enough for me.

At a very young age, he was given the on field captaincy, while at the same time being asked to play the fulcrum around which all of our play would be based.

Teams quickly learned that if they could get their high press right and specifically target Neil, they'd gain possession in a critical area and would suppress our preferred starting point for playing the ball out.

Of course there were the occasional unforced errors from him, caused by spacial awareness and sometimes a poor 1st touch, but given he plays just in front of the back 4, any mistakes would always leave us very exposed. He probably makes less errors than anybody else, but his are amplified because he's taking all the risk.

I just don’t think this is true, he’s been brilliant. If that is teams plans to “specifically target” Neil then it hasn’t worked remotely.

I agree that it hasn't happened, but because he's a local lad who our fans are desperate to be completely mistake free, any slight mistake is exaggerated and grumbled about ad nauseum.

I love him me and think he'll continue to improve.
