T20 Blast 2025

Plenty of adverts around the area. This was a cracking tournament with record crowds that the ECB has totally destroyed and would like to go away let’s be honest

wouldn’t mind a finals day or at least a quarter final.

Just speaking to people at the games, been very little chat about it. That said I am looking forward to seeing some players.

Ironically you mention how it was a cracking tournament which I totally agree with.... someone on twitter posted a photo of a full Lords I think in 2019 for the 1st game of the T20, compare that to last night attendance... totally ruined.

I'll be down on Sunday for the 5pm game.

Ticket prices for that game started from Adult £12 & Kids £10, so very cheap back then

Looking at the North group a bit like last season it looks wide open. If Durham can get off to a decent start and build up a bit of momentum they should make the top 4 again. We look a bit light on proven Specialist batsmen and I think Clark, Lees and Ackerman may need to make some big scores to win enough matches with the bundle of all rounders chipping in as well.

We will be ok when McKinney and Gay come back. Literally just away for this game

We’ve no excuse we should be strong in this in my opinion

Not sure Gay is in their initial plans even before lions call up. I believe that's why he signed up to play a few games for Seaham Park. Agree with Mckinney he looks more like a one day opener than a first class opener at this stage.

I know and can see the reasons for the reservations about signing Aldridge.

But putting that aside he a decent middle to lower order batsman, good bowler and exceptional fielder he will be a good player to have in this format.

Surprised Somerset let him go on loan tbh

Interesting. I must admit he’s a lot more of a defensive player than I’d originally read about.

Somerset stacked with talent like, probs just get him a few games n see how they go

Opening day of the country's premier white ball.tournament, and unless you are into cricket you'd have no idea it was on.
Trouble is, however much we wish this to be the case, it isn’t any more. The regional franchise stuff is the country’s premier white ball tournament.

I have tended to liken what the ECB did with regional franchising with what the WRU did a generation ago. They didn’t abolish the club sides as such. Club rugby still exists in Wales and the “feeder” clubs still participate in the Welsh Premier division. But it faded over a few years to an irrelevancy nobody really watches any more. But I’m not sure you could say the franchise stuff has been much of a success either.

Walking through Manchester yesterday and there's advertising for the 16.4 in two months time, but not for the Lancashire game that's happening right now.

The sport is completely fucked.
Welsh rugby certainly is. And that seems to be the direction of travel for English cricket.
