Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

Nothing wrong with my moral compass. Your post is patronising and judgmental. Grow up eh?
I’ve never made a patronising post ever, it seems to be you who is conflicted by the questions being asked here, wouldn’t want to get into a mud slinging argument with anyone, how about your “ grow up” comment, how patronising is that?

We're talking about a professional sports person who put themselves up as a paragon of vertue. The pushing of equality and lgbt visibility when he was Liverpool captain only to jump ship to a nation detrimentally apposed to the views he claimed to have. For what? A few million more, when already richer than most of us will ever be. It's hypocrisy at the highest level. He either didn't believe the things be said or he is easily bought. He knew why the Saudis wanted him and played along for £££££
It's incredible how utterly, wilfully obtuse some people are still being whenever Henderson going to Saudi is discussed.
They persist with the same straw man argument that 'loads of people worked in Saudi', completely ignoring the entire reason why Jordan was widely condemned for doing so.

Some people just don't seem to get concepts like 'nuance', 'context' and 'hypocrisy'.

My personal view is that he sold his supposed principles down the river after building up a flawless reputation for himself. Silly boy.
If he came to SAFC, he'd have a mountain to climb to win back the respect he pissed away.

Maybe time will heal, but not everyone's going to forgive him.

No, given the money on the table, you can see why players would go. Henderson was a bit different in how he was criticised, however, given he put himself on a pedestal as an equal rights campaigner and essentially went back on things he was supposedly very passionate about.

Still, wouldn't let that influence my judgement on him as a player if he does come back.
What a pleasure to have a reasonable discussion.
Its worth pointing out that as Captain of England and Liverpool he was probably strongly 'encouraged' to show that support for stuff at the time as the Bandwagon was well and truly rolling - I suspect given the choice he would have stayed clear of it all.

It's exactly the same, 99% of football fans are hypocrites let's be honest , they will always look the other way if it benefits the club they support.
It's nowt like it. You lot petitioned and celebrated being owned by blokes who sanction the murder of journalists. We're potentially signing a bloke who made a tit of himself and showed hypocrisy of ridiculous levels.

That doesn't really go against what I said mind. Yes, he's gone to Saudi, he's taken their money, he's promoted them as part of the deal. That's all on him. But if we chose to sign him, we're not taking Saudi money, we're not promoting them. We're just employing someone who used to play there. It wouldn't reflect badly on us at all, and people need to stop being worried about whether the mags would throw something at us. The two things are totally incomparable. Hell they'd be better off throwing the friendly we had against a Saudi team at us, that would be more relevant

He didn't take any money.

He would be a great signing imho 👍 just what our young lads need.

It’s going to be a hard season, having JH in our ranks gives us a fighting chance imho.

Good to see the mods have taken the oxygen from the Bisto guzzler who started the other thread 👍

If you look at my posting history you will see clear as day I am a lads fan. What I don’t agree with is people being hypocrites. It has also divided opinion on here which proves that.

Surprised many seem open to him returning, everyone hated him when he took the blood money and went to Saudi. It does show though, we would be no different to the mags had we got the takeover they got, which let's be honest we all knew that anyway.
I didn't hate him. I disagreed with an already very wealthy individual taking blood money. His choice and he has to live with it.

I’ve not forgotten, anyone suggesting we should sign Henderson is showing where their moral compass lies.
It's football and club loyalty and bias not just moral compass.

Taking of my red n white specs as looking at it if this was a player from say Brentford and it was Ivan Toney in place of Henderson but had done exactly the same things. Toney already had multi millions in the bank to last a lifetime and set up future generations. He could still command a decent wage anywhere in Europe yet seem to have sold his morals for even more money. Given his England captaincy and the rainbow LBGTQ stuff he promoted etc he went to Saudi instead saying he was wanting to help grow the game and it wasn't for money (bearing in mind the millions in the bank and the millions he could have earned from a new contract). He also released a promotional Saudi World Cup video. Would people who would happily accept Henderson back here be saying exactly the same thing if Toney was coming back to Brentford?

If this was a mag returning instead of Toney then it's obvious to a blind man that opinions would be far different from some people.
