Shearer talking shite

Lets just ignore the fact that he is completely wrong then

Fair enough. Most of the ‘neutrals’ I’ve spoken to or texted me have said roughly similar things and a lot if our own supporters have said that we didn’t start playing until the latter stages of the second half. You only have to review the match day thread to see evidence that a lot of people agreed with that in-the-moment.

And yeah, if he’s wrong, I’d recommend he’s ignored. Similarly, if he’s right, I’d recommend he’s ignored.

His opinion is something he’s entitled to but it’s not that important to me and I don’t know why it’s such a big deal for others. It’s not as if anyone is being forced to listen to him or read about it. I’ve not seen it, but I strongly suspect he isn’t actually saying anything insulting or derogatory.

Alan Shearers opinion on the playoff final is as valid as anyone else’s. His natural bias is probably balanced by the fact he’s an ex professional footballer and is now paid to express his opinion based on years of experience.

And he’s only saying what a lot of other people are saying.

Maybe it’s time to be magnanimous in victory and lose a bit of the sensitivity to perceived criticism. Because if one doesn’t, next season is going to be pretty tough, emotionally.
WTF. They bossed the 1st half aye, we done them in the 2nd. Fancy making shite up to appease a Mag ffs.

We have arguably achieved something remarkable over the last 3-4 seasons and he could have been magnanimous himself, especially as they've had a great season too and are obviously a level above us, even still.

What they can't handle is the fact that we have got here without selling our souls to the devil. I hope we remind them of that when we play them next...even if the club don't officially allow it.

I'm thinking a big flag saying something like: "No Yemeni children were killed in the making of this football team"
I don't think it's that, I think it's the simple fact we are actually happy, winning promotion has made us happy, it's all over the news and they can't handle it.

If after spending £500-600M and all they’ll ever achieve is a league cup win and qualifying by default for the Champions League, I’ll take that. The FA Cup or something significant I might feel differently. Their season ticket prices have literally doubled off winning next to nothing.
Don’t get me wrong, like I’ve said I’d love to win it, but honestly I don’t think winning that trophy, especially when it means nothing for the season after (European football wise) could possibly top that playoff winning feeling in the manner we did it.

‘Appease a mag’!?

I think I’ve entered a vortex of alternative perception with which I’m unfamiliar. Alan Shearers opinion means nothing to me, is what I’m saying. So it doesn’t rile me - even when I disagree.

But I’m obviously not as invested as some on the thread so I’ll bow out.

So you thought we got battered and that Al-Shazera isn’t a wanker?

We didn't get battered.

Patto made two (very good) saves, and apart from that I think the goal was their only other real effort. The offside one doesn't count as it was, well, offside.

We won, and deserved to win.
