Boro thread

The cream rises to the top hence why sunderland passed them after a blip in league one where we should of never ended up. Big clubs always get back and don't stay down. This was our longest spell outside of the top flight, i was always confident we'd be back sooner rather than later, i cant say the same for boro.

Yeah this is bollocks to be honest. Let's not pretend Sunderland have dominated Boro for years apart from that blip in league 1.

Look at the finishing position of each club in the 65 years since 1960 - Boro finished above Sunderland 35 times. Sunderland above Boro 30 times.

Both clubs have been extremely comparible for 60 years. In fact Boro have edged it, but whatever. We are two bald blokes arguing over a comb.

We’re Premier League marra

not if they were not invested into the club no. we didnt get them... they previous owners walked away with a nice wad of cash without spending a penny i believe/ perfectly legal as well, but to suggest we really ever had them, considering you knew nothing about the situation until i told you
You didnt 'tell me' anything.
You received parachute payments, same as anyone else.
How your club spent them is not the issue - you STILL received them

so what you are saying is.... we got our payments but couldnt invest them into the club like you could at the time and we have still got back to the prem before you? after 4/5 years in league one? with much bigger crowds as well

History? Boro? You've won a league cup in Wales vs Bolton and came 3rd once. Sunderland have 6 titles, 19 top 3 finishes and fa cups plus nearly 90 seasons in the top tier it's not comparable, plus attendances than blow all those clubs out of the water.

Palace have just won an fa cup, are based in London and have a decent fanbase currently, so bigger than Boro. Bigger than Ipswich? They have won cups and european trophy plus a bigger fanbase than boro. Brighton are established now. Fulham because of geography are fashionable. I'll give you Brenford and Bournemouth you're bigger than them.

why go back 65 years only? love how you decided the cut off point

i dont remember 'saying' that, but there you go.
i'm merely saying that Sunderland got parachute payments when relegated from the premier league - like every club does.

Yes, you've got back into the premier league - doesnt mean its for ever though, despite you winning the 'higher attendance cup'.
You sure those stripes are RED and white, and not black n white?
Does it really matter who is the bigger club anyway?
Exactly 100% this.
Every club is the most important - to its own fans

I agree!

Go back 70 years or 50 years if you like.It is obviously much of a muchness, clubs will be similar in that stat, so point remains.

I'm just saying it isn't a recent thing. Since like 2000 or something.

look how those parachute payments went for us.....

Hopefully the Boro lot (along with the likes of Coventry) can stay off here for a good while.

I can then go back to paying attention or seeing their opinions as much as I’ve nearly always done… only when we play them (which I hope isn’t for a long, long time)

I don’t mind or care too much about them. Quite the opposite actually, but they come across snide and bitter towards us.

good for you mate. yous will have had an amazing time. but dont try to compare both clubs having similar statistics when it comes to success

I'm grateful I have seen my club lift a major trophy. I get the likes of Huddersfield, Preston and Sunderland fans wanting to remind people of league titles in the early 1900s. All good, I would do the same.

Well I do, hence why I've been posting in a Boro thread.

Obviously though when some posters on here are taking the piss and becoming cocky I'm going to respond to that, as I did at that time.
just stay on your own forum. trying to warn us about what could happen to us means fuck all... maybe you lot will all go back to supporting man u now they have to play us. riverside will be even emptier

It's not for you to tell me what to do is it really. I've always come on here because Boro get discussed a fair bit, hence this thread now being 300 pages long.

I don't care if it means fuck all to you, but clearly Sunderland being above Boro in the table at that time meant something to some Sunderland fans. Why else would they choose to post in this Boro thread and revel in the start you'd made.
