Boro thread

I didn't give you that. You made that bit up
Seemed to be what you were insinuating. Or were you saying that just because you want to see Boro doing well it makes it seem odd that I don't want to see Sunderland do well? Because there's no logic to that when you consider that there will be plenty of Sunderland fans who don't like seeing Boro do well.

The Premiership is best when all 3 North East teams are in it.

I contextualized everything by telling you where I live. Come on, you're not that stupid are you? I want boro to do well, because I love here, my sons a boro fan (shit son) so that's why. Loads of lads in boro secretly like Sunderland though

I agree to be honest but I don't like NE clubs being in it when Boro aren't.

It's just the fact that you used the word "weird". When you actually stop for a second and reflect on it, it shouldn't seem so weird that a Boro fan doesnt want to see Sunderland do well in the Premier League.

Many Boro fans regard Sunderland as a local rival and there are plenty of Sunderland fans who feel the same about Boro. I don't find it weird that a Sunderland fan likes seeing Boro do well and fair play to you that you do, but likewise you shouldn't find it weird that I don't like seeing Sunderland do well.

The point I made then was that many on here were going on as if you'd already been promoted. A similar thing had happened the previous season when you'd started well, but tailed off as the season progressed, so it felt a bit foolish to be getting so carried away, when it was still early into the season.

Of course, the season just gone it become apparent as the season progressed that you were genuine promotion contenders, that was obvious to me after you'd beaten us at the Riverside.

Fair play, it's a great achievement and I'd be lying if I didn't say that I was a bit jealous.

I'd also be lying if I didn't say that I'm hoping you break Derby's record next season. All the best anyway and Up the Boro.
Thing is marra even if we do break Derby’s record we will be coming down loaded ready to blow the league away.

I used to work with a few Boro supporters, but only one went to games. He was a good bloke and gave it the big un against us, but was realistic in the outcomes and future of either club if promoted. The others, 3 of them never went to any games so I reckon they do not count.

That’s complete bollocks like. When you posted that, 5th Aug, we hadn’t played the first match of the season. There’s a thread on here entitled “Expect a tough start to the season”. At that point we had played Mayenda up front who’d done nothing, in fact, couldn’t get in the Hibs team the previous year & hadn’t signed Isidor yet. Even when we did sign isidor, people were saying he was a left winger & we hadn’t signed a striker, yet again.

Our manager was an unknown fella with little experience, but had just recorded a relegation. This was after what appeared to be our long term no.1 target in Will Still decided to fuck us off at the 11th hour.

Oh aye, we were on the verge of selling Jack Clarke too. Easily our best & most influential player.

Now, the point you make about the season before, again, bollocks. After qualifying for the play offs by the skin of our teeth the year before that, the ambitions were to just there again. By December it wasn’t going well & we sacked Mowbray. That was to try & keep the season & a play off challenge alive. It appears the board didn’t have a back up plan & most had given up once we realised it was Beale. The board actually gave up when they sacked him & decided not to appoint a new manager.

How you can even try & say anyone was going on like we’d already been promoted is pure fantasy.

Yeah I was in the White Rose in Boro laughing like fu ck at the bar when Sevilla battered Boro in the final. Why do people pretend they like other clubs. I hate newcastle, Boro, pretty much every other club tbf. I don't hate the fans tho, well not all of them. I hope newcastle and boro keep getting relegated. I'd love us to be in the prem for the next 100 years and nufc and boro to be non league id laugh everyday.

I worked in Billingham for a year, were quite a few SAFC lads who all went to the game. A few mags, 2 of whom went to the shit tip. Loads of Boro, not many went to matches. % wise we won.

Well you certainly didn't stay in the championship last time you had parachute payments 😜.

End of the day though, you ended up going up (this year) because you deserve to.
Up towards the top all season and worked the play offs exactly how it should be approached.

Granted there's gonna be some fans that are 'jealous' or whatever, but most folk I know are more frustrated that other clubs (including but not just Sunderland) have managed to build and get promoted while we haven't .
To me, it was obvious that we weren't good enough - you were so fair play for that.
Your club and manager have worked the whole season well and are up because you deserve to be.
You've obviously been far better than us - league position, end result and both matches against each other proves that.

Said before on here, considering you didn't have the parachute payments this season (and after last seasons finish), I reckon your manager/head coach should be a shoe in for championship manager of the season.
