You can only conclude he had made his decision that Sunderland wasn’t the club for him and he would have eventually went for nothing if we dug our heels in.

You can say he would have been worth more if the deal hadn’t been done so early, but he might not have scored that goal if he didn’t have a point to prove.

We move on and have another success on the roster of academy products.

Mason Cotcher and Watson both seemed to feel that way. Watson got a slight injury and iirc signed his youth contract while I cured possibly partly for security. He absolutely made the right decision then anyway. Shame he's leaving but shows others the path to the first team is there. Finn is already pushing to be the next winger off the production line and rhys Walsh is looking decent as well
 
If he goes for £30m+ then fair enough it’s a good profit but it leaves a big hole in our team. I might be wrong but we didn’t win a game without him this season.

Losing Watson, jobe and mepham means we’re already weaker. The club recruitment strategy will be interesting. Premier league players start at £25m these days. I don’t think KLD will want to go for it and get 5-6 in in that bracket. Will they want to abandon the buy young and cheap strategy that got us here.

According to the Bild newspaper here in Germany he is in Frankfurt.
 
Frankfurt is a great move for him but I thought he’d want a go at the Prem with us.

Shame if it’s true but should bring in big money.

I thought the same. Very disrespectful to do there today imo too. Leaves a slight bitter taste. Would have Been nice to get a few more years from him but if he wants to go hopefully we make him regret it by achieving in the next few years. Obviously an agreement with the club. We'll see how good we are at extracting the maximum fir him. Transfer fees are only going one way and gray who went for 40million had achieved less than thus lad. In theory it should be a huge fee by our history and dwarf that of pickfords record departure fee.
 
Although he is very likely away, the club have posted a collection of posts from the players. Both Jobe and Cirkin say job finished and job done. So we could be reading too much into Jobe’s post.

That being said it’s probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Jobes reason might be the intensity and pace required to play in the premiership might just stunt his development. Going over Germany and being able to develop might be best for his career. We will miss him though, very good player
 
The Bellingham camp are also very clever.

Realistically, we are in for an extremely difficult and challenging season in the PL and if we do go down (which, again, being realistic is a distinct possibility) you can almost be guilty by association for want of a better phrase.

His stock for moving on is at a huge high now.

It's been a win-win move for all concerned. He's played week in week out for two years, has developed massively, been instrumental in our promotion, has improved his reputation even more, and we'll get a substantial fee.

Good luck to him and I look forward to following his career from afar. I have no doubt he's going to end up at the top and proud we will have played a significant part in that.

Another element of this is that highly rated young players are going to be looking at Jobe and how he has developed here and thinking to themselves that we are a club worthy of serious consideration when weighing up options.
