Aston Villa planning complaint to Premier League

I think we missed out by only taking 2 points against Ipswich or letting a player run 60 yards in the last minute when 1-0 up against Bournemouth. Conceding a free kick from which they scored from instead of taking the player out when he was in his own half.

It’s been a great season and finishing 6th from where we were at Christmas is an achievement.

That said, the amount of favourable decisions for the home teams at Anfield, Ethisd and OT is questionable

Sending Martinez off was a way worse decision

we were about to witness another Hojland howler. He did him a favour 😂

Goal scoring opportunity my arse

Not surprised. The commentary on the stream I was watching said it’s worth about £100m to get into the championship league alone, even going out early. Not surprised they’re peeved. Won’t change anything for Villa like

It’s not the ref blowing early that’s the issue but that the blowing early has owt to do with it at all. VAR should still be able to stick its nose in regardless. If everyone all over the planet watching on the telly knows it’s the wrong decision immediately following some nonsensical immovable rule compounds the mistake even further. But as I always say wtf can you expect from a set up that considered Webb And Poll to be our best refs then sent them out onto the world stage to make English reffing look stupid.

Unbelievable that It didn't go to VAR for a start. Not sure they will get far with the complaint probably just get a sorry but It's cost them millions of pounds because they would of been In champions league

Don’t get why it didn’t? So inconsistent. Great when they get it right like Saturday though.

Not surprised, too much money involved I guess.
It might put them back years, missing out on some signings, losing current players, missing out on money while others benefit.

I felt the same when Sheff Utd were robbed of their PL place but WHU. So it’s not a biased complaint
Ok..still lose 2-1 does it matter…and I can’t stand our Black & White neighbours
You know it’s not that simple surely!!!

Give Sheff Its their rules out goal. So what it’s 2-2 and take penalties. No, it would more likely end up 2-0 or even 3-0. That decision knocked them hard and changed the game

Yep agree every week a referee changes the direction of a match..

Just watched it, nothing wrong with the goal, the keeper messed up and I can understand Villa being annoyed. Can't see anything being done about it but you never know.

I’d like to see an appeal and legal challenge to the decision if possible, only to set a precedent.

The potential loss of earnings is immense and maybe it’s time to challenge any blatant incompetence.

In principle var should work, I mean it should be almost as iron clad as possible but they seem to be making a right pigs ear of it all.

I think this is one of these areas where the laws no longer say what our common sense definition would be. But no one ever bothers to actually refer to them. Which is exactly the same as what happened with the disallowed Sheffield United goal. Everyone just made up their own interpretations of “interfering” to argue about rather than going to the laws themselves.

Same here with control. Obviously, the goalkeeper is not in control of the ball in the narrow sense of holding it. But the laws also say that he is deemed in control of the ball in other cases including when “the ball is between the hands or between the hand and any surface (e.g. ground, own body) or by touching it with any part of the hands or arms except if the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper has made a save”. Which seems to describe the case here at the time the challenge came in. He’s already touched it with his hand and it’s still between his hands.

Overprotected goalkeeper? Very probably. Foul as the law stands? Looks like it to me. Not clearly and obviously not one anyway whatever “common sense” might suggest even if VAR could have intervened.

Probably not. Easily the most corruption the Premier League has seen. VAR and refs have been in favour of Newcastle all season, clear to everyone but their fans.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve been involved in match fixing along the way.
The Saudi's funded the 9/11 attacks and had a journalist turned into mince meat (amongst countless other atrocities) so literally anything is possible with them.
