Test squad Zimbabwe (and let’s make it the match thread)

I know the pitch and outfield have contributed but all our bowlers going over 4 an over isnt building confidence with tougher tests to come.
Bashir has bowled some cracking balls but i fear he will be milked over the summer as the batters just wait for the poor ball every over to arrive.
Cook has underwhelmed so far.
Remember when Atkinson was touching 90mph.
Tongue has bowled with pace at least.
Stokes the pick of the bowlers by some distance

What a blinder of a catch by Brook. One of the best slip catches I've seen like.

Well done to Bashir for his 9for. I'm still not sold on him, but Stokes does seem to know how to bring the best out of him, so fair play. Indians are a different kettle of fish though, they love spinners. He's going to have to get tighter and more consistent.

Overall, job well done. Best thing for me was Ben Stokes bowling full pelt and looking like a menace. Fingers crossed.

Thing is, with Bens captaincy would he not get more out of a more consistent spinner or more experienced spinner.

Good question. How did Leach fare under his captaincy? I would say he is our most consistent and experienced spinner.

It's a funny one. On one hand I'm glad we're looking to the future but I still want the best players playing in their respective positions.

I guess this summer's series against India will tell us a lot about some of our players. Whether that be with the bat or ball. A lot of them, hopefully are still playing for their places for the next Ashes.

Leachs stats were worse for average and economy but believe strike rate was up (all stats better than Bashirs currently though I think)

Well done Bashir

As I’ve consistently said if you’re gonna drop players from the England side you do it for his performances for England not county cricket

Btw wasn’t impressed with Cook. Kind of confirmed my fears
