Why has Foden gone from hero to zero?

maybe he had it all at such a young age and won the champions league alongside a few league titles. I could imagine a young man might not have the desire. I’m only speculating by the way.

What the hell?

Rigg is just coming up to his 18th birthday, in a couple of weeks.

At that age, Phil Foden was playing in the Champions League and Premier League, had a League Cup winners medal, and was the youngest player ever to win a Premier League winners medal.

Chris Rigg is not a 'far better player' than Foden was at that stage.
if Riggs playing for Man City, it would be very different story. Riggs has everything that Foden don't have. Tackles, read the game well, tactical dribbler, determination, strong mentality compare to Foden at 17. Thats what im trying to say. When Foden was 17, he was weak as piss!

Rigg isn't good enough to get in the Sunderland team for their match of the season though. He certainly wouldn't have been good enough to get into the 2018 Man City team, which won the league with a record breaking 100 points. He'd have been loaned out to someone like us. Rigg is not 'far better' than Foden at that age FFS.

Could be any number of reasons tbh, but I imagine if you’re his age and you win the treble and player of the season you might lose your edge a bit the next year.

He was never as good as the hype suggested. He is playing for a manager who puts his own self-importance ahead of anything, and certainly doesn't develop players (as Grealish, Palmer, Phillips, or Delap would testify). And - thankfully - football is beginning to leave that unwatchable playing style behind, so he plays for a team that is not only beatable, but now lagging a long, long way behind the best teams in Europe.
He was good but he showed his limits when playing for England. He looked lost and hardly a game changer. I can’t remember who was being interviewed but they tried to compare him to iniesta . The person being interviewed ( fabragas I think) said something along the lines of “ you never needed to tell iniesta how to change a game, he just did it. Foden needed coaching even when on the pitch .

My city supporting m8’s say rumours are personal matters ?!?! No idea what
He’s played most of this season with an injury, and also struggled a bit with mental health issues. He’s admitted as much in recent interviews. He would be a great sounding board for both Riggy and Jobe - so young to have the spotlight thrust on them, he could give them advice on how to handle it.

To put it into context, Foden was being talked about from an early age, but… by the time he was 18 he’d only played 10 club games, Rigg will have played more than 70; by the time he was 20 he’d played 74 club games, Jobe will have played about 130.

Didn’t foden and greenwood get sent home from England duties for smuggling lasses into the England camp during lockdown? I’d rather jobe and Rigg got advice from James Milner and scholes over foden

Football and society has moved so quickly, that would be like getting advice on girls from your Granddad!
