Why has Foden gone from hero to zero?

A few aging players not quite at the levels they were and teams finding ways to play against them, which a few years back they wouldn’t have dared. Rhodri has been a huge miss. Foden has suffered but maybe he is just a good player who played with world class players.

Like grealish he needs to move. Both have allowed themselves to be pushed out wide and both - especially Foden - would be better centrally. Foden is similar to Bernardo silva or gundogan when he was younger. A Poundshop iniesta basically. Well not Poundshop that’s a bit harsh 😂 But city are well stocked there so he’s never been allowed to bed in and develop there and now he’s just lost in a sea of widemen

You have to be athletic 6 foot plus to play midfield nowadays if you are diminutive cm you need to be very special
Foden is very special.

He captain England to a world trophy at 17, scored a hatful and was the player of the tournament. Played regularly and very well for a side that won the league and Champions League double at 22.

He hasn't replicated that form for England and has had quiet season but only by his own incredibly high standards. Still played 48 games and scored 10 goals which isn't too shabby.

It doesn’t look like they are working hard enough and their central midfield is non existent. Their play and passing is so slow, very easy to defend against.

He's a luxury. Not good tall enough, fast enough or powerful enough to be a forward and not creative enough to be a winger. He's good playing somewhere in the middle of those positions. That's fine if you dominate play, but City don't anymore and once they play with a proper striker in Haaland, they don't have spare places to give to someone who doesn't quite fit.
What a ludicrous statement man. He played on the wing at city for years.

Just done a quick search and this season is the most he’s played in the 10 and it’s been his and city’s poorest season in almost a decade. 🤣

My city supporting m8’s say rumours are personal matters ?!?! No idea what
I've researched a little.
First we have to put in context the massive decline in performance level of the whole team. Losing Alvarez and the Rodri injury has taken away 50 goals compared to last year. Foden has been playing in a disfuncional tram.
Secondly, and probably most importantly, he's ill. He would seem to have some stomach problems that mean he's not 100%. Given the type of player he is, where he is most dangerous in and around the penalty area, when speed and incisiveness are paramount, this lack of physical sharpness greatly blunts his edge.
The lack of noise or protest by Phil over his absence from the side would back this up. He knows he's not right.
I hope this summer he can sort himself out and we can see the old Phil that I used to love.

Agree with this. He’s done well out of staying at City for years but he should be the main creative man for a decent PL side, like Gibbs-White at Forest. It’s no good him being in the side one week then on the bench the next two.

I’m amazed at how many people seem so keen to say that he’s just shite.

Like how many seasons has he been one of city’s best players when they have won the lot? He’s then had one not-great season and suddenly he’s shite?! 😂
