Jack Clarke

The problem is that he would never have got a move to a team who weren't going to struggle.
I thought he should have waited. Stayed here if the likes of Wolves or Palace etc. didn't come knocking immediately and continued to impress.

Jack is relatively young, had already had a big move to Spurs so would have pocketed a good chunk of money. He was more or less top earner here too so he didn't need big bucks immediately.

Ross Stewart was a completely different scenario. Heading towards 30, on a poor contract and no previous moves on note. I couldn't blame him for setting himself up with a career changing move money wise.

I honestly think we’d have made a way better challenge for the top two if he’d had stayed. I said at the time in here I’d put everything I owned that he’d be straight back to square one within a season. Now he’s done a bit more damage to his top flight chances. Another season here he’d have even went up with us or had better teams looking if he’d had repeated or even Beth’s last season here. The lad was badly advised twice.

Loved Jack when he was here but IF we went up, I'm not sure I'd have him back.

Failed to make the step up with Ipswich and yes, they didn't play to his strengths but we have Mundle in his position who has been excellent for us this season and Enzo who is capable of doing a job. The money it would take would be better spent elsewhere.

Can't belive people bring up that game as some kind of barometer. We were in a terrible place, what with Beale in charge and a real lack of leadership from the clubs board. There wasn't one player who looked like they knew what they were supposed to be doing that day. They were also up against a team that easily cost ten times more than ours.

Behave man.
These people always conveniently ignore we played Fulham twice in the FA Cup and Clarke scored in both games.
Trippier is an exceptional full back and there's a reason he's played in World Cups, Euros, CL finals etc. It's not uncommon for players to struggle against him.

At the end of the day, he was keen to get himself to the premier league and get himself that increase in wages. It’s fair enough because the jump is huge.

For his career though, it was a silly move. Stays with us one more year and he’s either promoted with us and gets the wage increase or goes to a more established premier league club imo.

It's easy to forget we came 16th, surprised more didn't go

I think I know you finish where you deserve over the period of 46 games but the pissing about changing managers three times then “plodding on” it almost had an asterisk against it. I agree though we did well to hang on to most of the players we wanted too.

It's been argued that Clarke hasn't been played in his most effective position at Ipswich Town, and of course he hasn't been, and just as obviously he was joining a club who were one of the favourites for relegation, so he wasn't surrounded by quality players which would have helped him.

But that doesn't 100% excuse how poor he has been this season.

Clearly too good for the Championship, not good enough for the Premier seems to be the conclusion.

Just shows how massive the gap is these days.

Nail, hit, and head..... and i believe it's mainly down to one thing and that's greedy, immoral agents who only want one thing for themselves, a big pay check. There's no way they care about these kids s future. Don't know the answer but surely there should be some sort of regulation/ safety net ,
To be fair I don't think jack Clark will have done badly out of the move. There is a safety net, he goes down to the championship and earns more than most of us can only dream of.
Personally I thought he'd struggle I. The prem but can't blame him at all for giving it a go. To me a bad decision would be not giving it a go if he thought he was good enough.
