Controversial Indian Food Opinion

Agreed.

British Indian food tends to taste the same because most dishes use madras curry powder, fuck tons of ginger and garlic, and the same BIR base gravy.

I still love knocking one up, but it's all much of a muchness. Would never waste money on expensive seafood and start adding things like the above to mask the flavour. Only ever do chicken or lamb.

Exactly. You want to see what he did with this lobster. This is what he used with the lobster.

  • 3 large free-range
  • 100ml/3½fl oz
  • ¼ tsp ground
  • 1 tbsp
  • ½ banana , finely chopped
  • 1 clove, chopped
  • 10cm/4in fresh root , peeled and finely diced
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 50g/1¾oz unsalted , cubed
  • 50g/1¾oz fine fresh , chopped
  • , to taste
Way too much.
Sounds nice if you can afford it 😋

You should see the Concreting lads down south, squads of them indians on site. They bring one each in and put it all in the middle of the table at bait time and all tuck into the array with bare hands.

wipe their arses with said hands as too and they don't use bog roll. Apparently.
Love that sort of set up (loads of bait shared about. Picky tea Indian style).

Eat with their right hand only. Left is for the cason.

Aye but the good people of England like to sit in English cafes eating carveries, full englishes and drinking fosters and John smiths in Benidorm. Just because you’re from somewhere it doesn’t mean you have taste.
Dunno if it still is, but Chicken Tikka Masala was the UKs most popular dish.

Quite like it but it’s the sort of thing I’d have as a midweek meal now and again like gammon egg and chips. Curry and rice is a midweek meal in the same class as sausage and mash. Pub grub fayre tbh
Controversial but I’m not that struck on lobster. It’s just a big chewy prawn.
Cook it for less time and it isn’t.

I don’t think it’s very good. It’s over the top. Just watching Tony Singh on Saturday kitchen making masala Lobster. What an absolute waste of a lobster. That’s far too much to put on a lobster. The lobster should be the main flavour of the dish. Once you start relying on loads of spices in your food your palate is ruined. The Indians haven’t a clue about food because they always have to have huge flavours and never seem to be satisfied with subtle flavours. When Indians go on masterchef you just know they’re making a curry. It’s predictable and boring.
I think lobster is very overrated, much sooner have Crab 👍

It's roots are from necessity
1 basic idea done lots of ways .
I agree that the main attraction almost doesn't matter ,its all the stuff in the rest of it that gives it the flavour . I've probably had 5% of an Indians menu in my life
Still enjoy it when I bother

Depends what you want. Indian essence up the road to a belting tandoori lobster. Sometimes I like poached lobster.

Sometimes I fancy a ruby, sometimes I like that monks jumped over the wall at hakkasan. Sometimes I like dover sole in butter.

Most takeaways are generic because they buy the same gear from the same suppliers which is why you get a boat load of food in a Sunday special for 15 quid or whatever it is.

It's hard to beat a top end Indian like gymkhana or chutney Mary tho. Or a naan cooked in a tandoor oven

Most of the ‘Indian’ food served in ‘Indian’ restraints and takeaways isn’t actually Indian.

Never seen the vast majority of the dishes in any restaurants when I’ve been to India.

Just had a Masala Dosa and Pani Puri for lunch, tremendous bait.
