Attendance Thread - Coventry City (Play-Off 2nd Leg)

Too many fairweather fans . Just hope the usual don't start to stream out on the 75th minute regardless of score . Not holding my breath .
Our night games are usually poorly attended yet this one looks like everyones made the effort so where or what reason are the missing brigade giving attending this one compared to a normal Tuesday home game?

It won’t be cold, it’s a very important match. So you’d think those folk will make the extra effort and plan in their journey home. Assuming those are the ones who have to travel and get their kids to school next morning etc….
We have a lot of season ticket holders who don’t live in Sunderland

All teams have fairweather fans us included.
Do you think Liverpool and Man Utd don't have tens of thousands of them?
Yes but I'm talking season ticket holders who can't make night games can now and its a same night as usual . Think its down to preference not commitments as Tuesday clearly shows

Perhaps you haven't taken it to account that many of the extra fans will be making an extra effort and financial commitment to get to this game? For thousands that means time off work, hours of travelling and significant expense. I'd say that that level of commitment, is not "fair weather".

Bizarre that local fans who have easy and significantly cheaper access to games, then resent the fans who don't have that luxury pulling out the stops when the team needs them.

It depends … my family and I live in London, I know of several others also. Due to work and school commitments we can’t make mid week games… One day when I eventually can retire and school is not relevant it will be possible

When you live a few hours away and have to take an afternoon of work to get there and then have to be back at work the next morning after arriving home in the early hours it is a big effort to make a midweek game.

Sometime for big games such as this you are going to make that extra effort, and I certainly wouldn't criticise exiles who make the effort for this game but don't for others.

Locals don’t bother with the midweeks

Nothing left in the lower bowl apart from BCB

And just this left in PC really

Can we stop calling them exiles

Nobody has been exiled to live away

People have chosen to live away, usually for financial reasons. Which is absolutely their prerogative but they aren’t exiled
Do you Bradford what the Bradford Boxing Day attendance was?

Rearrange these words “on 21 twist”

Whatever the label, do you see how it may be more difficult to attend midweeks for some ? And in some cases that extra effort won’t be worth it. Whereas Tuesdays game definitely will be.

Things may change in the coming years but for fairly unique reasons there is a lot of migration away from Sunderland for the last 30 years or so. Tbh I have upmost respect for those who still go to the games at all. I know some season ticket holders who have never lived in the North east !

Fuck me is it too difficult a concept for some numpties on here to grasp. It's the biggest home game of the season. Consequently school age kids are being allowed to attend when they otherwise wouldn't be, people who live miles away are stumping up extra money for transport and accomodation in addition to time off work. Others who live locally might also be forgoing other work and family commitments to get to this match. For a number of our fans it's just not logistically and or economically feasible to do this frequently throughout the season. We've got fans coming from London, Bristol, Belfast, Malta, the Outer Hebrides and god knows where.
