The India/Pakistan War Effect on Cricket

I've heard that before, from a very similar country/regime.

You do know there was a terrorist attack launched from Pakistan? And you’re using to make digs at the Indian cricket team? Christ.
Brilliant. So now it eats even more into our summer.

Why? It’s in the UK man.

There could be at risk like in an uncontrolled environment, they’d be prime targets like.

There are terrorist attacks all the time but they don't usually lead to bombing the country the perpetrators came from, unless the attacked country already wants an excuse for it. Christ

They were getting on relatively fine before Modi came along, now he's taken them back 20 years.

What’s that got to do with you having sly digs at the cricket team?

Just get a grip mate

Looks like both country's cricket boards are holding meetings with a view to how to continue this year's IPL & PSL tournaments if they can continue at all.

In the long term how does the ICC keep them apart in World Cups etc?

Will India's tour here this summer still go ahead? How will this impact on the, now, Indian owned 16.4 franchises?

Hopefully this conflict can be resolved quickly but highly unlikely.
Already had an effect with the champions trophy didn't it. Anyway same will apply all their games will be played in Dubai. And they will never play each other, no different to Ukraine and Russia situation.

PSL was announced to be taking place in UAE however this has now been postponed as well. Surely no way either of these competitions play any more games this year.

I'd be on the phone to Ireland now like. A summer without Test cricket would be a disaster. Then again maybe not with the ECB.

There are eye watering sums of money involved in the IPL that they will be determined to finish it at some point. There is so much money tied up in it. The question is though how are they going to fit it in?

Re the Indian tour issue, I suspect the ECB will soon be meeting to discuss an emergency Plan B.

West indies it is then.

Good idea, need as much practice as we can before we say hello to australia again.

If we do need a plan B hopefully it will be South Africa, especially as they will already be over here for the Test Championship final in June

I’m quite surprised these have been cancelled. I know there have been clashes in Kashmir, but has it really escalated that far?

Aye I think theyre worried about isolated attacks, cricket would be an absolute prime target. I wouldn’t rule out trouble with our test series, it’s a shame like, sport is a real force for good But it’s the correct decision right now in my opinion, why risk it

Cricket should be above politics
But in India it isn't.
The Hindu Nationalist Modi is definitely persecuting Muslims.
At the controversial opening of the Ayodhya Temple, built on the site of a destroyed Mosque, Tendulkar and Gavaskar were invited and went. Kohli, to his credit found a reason not to go.

Pakistanis not allowed in the IPL.

England cricketers last year not allowed in for the Test series because they didn't meet the visa requirements because their parents are of Pakistani origin.
I don't need to go on about the advantage India had in Dubai as all teams had to play them there in the recent ICC World Cup.
As mentioned above with heightened tensions, and crowds of thousands of people, it is too big a risk for a coordinated bombing attack.

There was a “totally unconnected” power cut in Dharmsala (which is near but is in Himachal Pradesh) during last night’s game that caused it to be abandoned. And both sides have medium range ballistic missiles. We shut the football down in 1939 when the war was still just in Poland.

Sure. But I’m amazed they can’t play in Chennai for example.

We’re really not at point of missiles hitting cities

I wish people would just stop mixing the cricket with the politics it’s so inappropriate like.
