Love beating those twats.
Comfortable win for the Champions. Off and running. The cider guzzlers incredibly poor - obviously not "their year" once again.

It’s amazing how many games you win when you spend the most money like and have a few posh lads from the best schools in the country

You want to open with Sibley man haha ffs

Cracking finish at Taunton looks like Somerset going to knock off 321 to beat Essex after looking dead and buried. James Rew just completed his 10th championship hundred and still only 21. So many batsmen/keepers on the circuit.
Rew looks like a really good player for a few years now, looks really composed for his age
Apparently his younger brother a cracking player as well

Yeah I watched it today. It was indeed a great finish. Good finish shaping up at Middlesex as well right now.

Looks like all the players in the England test squad have been made unavailable for this round of CC fixtures. You would think given the test isn't until the 22nd some of the players, especially the batsmen could do with a bit of match practise ahead of it.

Jason Roy in the Surrey squad for championship match at Edgbaston. I had forgot all about him would have even possibly thought he had retired.

One of the best examples of how stopping playing red ball cricket disrupted his t20 form

Firm believer that you need the fundamentals of batting and if you’re just t20 all year faxing like 15/20 balls an innings you lose it

When Roy was at his best he always always played for Surrey for some of the CC

I think people recently like Banton have found that too

Surrey sign Kurtis Patterson as overseas for a few games… Then don’t pick him. Oh how the other half live.
Mind we are like that for our next game. Three overseas on the books and can only play two.

Yeah they have enough of the grind of championship cricket but realise they don't spend enough time in the middle.

I always thought it was bit unfair on Roy when he was given a chance for England.

Opening (which he never did to my knowledge for Surrey in red ball cricket)

And opening against the great attack the Aussies had was always going to be extremely difficult for him.

Very quickly was pigeon holed as not been good enough for England.

At his peak would have liked to have seen him have a go lower down the order

He'd never batted higher than 5 I believe. Mental to shoe horn him in to open against the best attack in the world!

The obsession that Ed Smith had trying to get a David Warner opener by hook or by crook. Also making sure Buttler was in the side at all costs too.

Root
Roy
Stokes
Bairstow
Moeen
Woakes
Broad
Anderson

That would have been a class side from 4 down if we could have just found a 2 and 3 to compliment Cook. We pissed about too much playing Moeen and Bairstow all over the place when they should have just been left at 7/8.
