Regis le Bris - confirmed

Treat as a mini pre season
This is just nonsense though. Why would a "mini pre season" entail totally different setup and tactics to what you are going to employ in it actual season?

I've been saying for weeks that the people going on about rotation are missing the point. It's the massive deteriation in the style and standard of our play that is the issue.

We'll see soon enough I suppose

It's going to be a massive summer around the club, it would depend if they backed Le Bris for me. He has had a choice of about 14-15 players to pick from all season who are first team ready.
I think this is a really important point.
The squad has been shown to be woefully short (if promotion was a genuine goal this season).

The cover for the starting XI is nowhere near good enough and RLB has not been able to manage the minutes of the first team at all. We are - like last season - good for 6 months and then we just fall off a cliff.

I don’t think Le Bris is to blame. We are flogging a core squad of 15 players to death. We seem to have learned nothing from last season.

Won't happen. Every single season we've been in the championship we've been left short. Even when it comes to what is glaringly obvious.

It depends though doesn't it?

Realistically we aren't going to compete with teams with parachute payments in terms of quality of squad depth.

I just think the manager was absolutely terrified to trust players on the periphery of his squad earlier in the season, and combined with an inability to change things we're in the mass we're in now.

Now those players might well be shite, but the likes of Ba, Aouchiche, even Jewi Bennette we've seen have good games, or at least make an impact at this level. Are they good enough to be starting week in week out for a team gunning for promotion almost certainly not. Have we seem them have stinkers before? Yes. But at least if they aren't effectively frozen out, you could rotate them in to give other players a breather.

That being said I still think his inability to change how we play games is a bigger issue than players being "tired".

I don't think our squad depth is especially worse than Ipswich's was last season.

Spot on with that. He has been left to hang out to dry, just like his predecessors. His isn't totally blameless like but it's not all on him.

No doubt.

The season in isolation has been as good as could be expected really; however you can't just ignore the performances of late and the lack of goals and shots at goal.
I think whether you can ignore them or not depends on the next two games. If we get past Coventry reasonably comfortably, that reinforces the idea that this has been our best season for years. Even if we lose in the final to be honest. If we surrender tamely, that reinforces the view that the form has collapsed and that it’s a real thing. It’s a big couple of games for the club and for the head honcho.

I mean let’s be honest, there’s next to zero percent chance of this happening.

Spot on - if we’d started the season playing like this but slowly built the momentum to the point where we were blowing teams away at this stage like we did at the start and end up 4th on 76 points, I don’t think anyone could complain.

It’s the fact we’ve gone completely the other way and the level of decline in our performances is a huge worry.

If we turn up and give a good account of ourselves in the playoffs, I'm happy to back him to lead us next season. Regardless of the outcome.

If we don't then combined with the recent form, I'd move him on.
O

It's a worry, but it might also be due to the fact we've got nothing to play for and haven't for a while
