I expect players to be able to tackle, organise themselves in defence, control a pass, take a corner and pass 5 yards even in a dead rubber.

My worry is the mindset of the players as well.

We had that really bad run last season with mostly the same group of players and they couldn’t get themselves together.

I know they were left high and dry by the Beale fiasco but we there is something missing when it comes to resilience and leadership on the pitch.

It's very rare a manager lasts beyond 18 months anyway so chances are he'll be sacked before the feast

It's a fool proof strategy. Have a new manager bounce/settling in period where no consequence can be inferred. Then mention the player's managing themselves to shift the entire emphasis onto them ready for the inevitable downturn.
