Two Bob owners

OK where does that money come from? The chairman's pocket? Easy to spend someone else's cash. Do we sell assets like Watson with our fans acting like gilted lovers and crying everytime a player leaves us?
Alternatively it comes from us, I'm not paying hundreds of quid more a year for my season ticket to keep players here. We're still a working class city and people's financial commitment to the club can only stretch so far. If that stops us from being an established top flight club until a bored billionaire or despotic regime comes along then so be it
Fancy arguing against investing in players…king of the happy clappers 😂

This thread just sums up this place tbh.

Some good measured posts just getting lost in the sea of uninformed drivel posted as fact by the same few people. Many of whom couldn't find their way to the Stadium of Light with a satnav.

It's mental, people actually think this squad is better than anything under Short.
I think fees for the likes of neil, rigg, patto etc are going to be under half what some folk expect. Red n white specs.

Also keep reading what a star mayendas going to be, I must be watching different matches.

Hey I'm not knocking this squad, I think it could and should have seriously challenged for automatics.

But to say its better than anything under Short, I mean come on.🤷‍♂️

I obviously wish them all the best.

Firmly prepared for playoff heartache but hope Im wrong. A hammering of qpr wouldnt be a bad start. I dont think we can have another drab draw or loss then hit the ground running.

And you clearly have selective memory.

Chelsea 0-3 Sunderland

Gordon
Bardsley
Richardson
Turner
Onuha
Bramble
Cattermole
Zenden
Henderson
Wellbeck
Gyan

Subs
Mignolet
Malbranque

Give me Hejlde, Anderson and Samed any day.

And a lad with 25 premier league goals the previous was out injured! Frazier Campbell was in that squad as well; he’d absolutely waltz into our first team and be considered by some to be a generational talent!

Thats all we’ve ever had..
The only one who invested any kind of decent money was Short but put muppets in charge of it.
Never willing to take the next step and change us from the so called sleeping giant to a club that can hold its own. A brief flirt under Reid in my 45 years as a supporter is pathetic.
We’re so used to watching shite we over exaggerate the talents of anyone who shows a glimpse of anything near being any good.
Rigg isn’t going to set the world alight nor Bellingham either. They’re just decent that’s all.
This club deserves better than the penny pinching swindlers we’ve had in the past. It’s a crime that we’ve struggled so badly for the last 50 years.
If by a miracle we triumph in the play offs this owner will shit himself and we’ll be the whipping boys of nxt years premier league.
That's what supporters with a farthing's worth of sense deserve.

What do you actually want the club to do if we go up like?

All true, but the game's done now anyway. There's no team that would "make us proud" at the champions league end of the table now, as the elite teams are mostly mercenaries who would drop you in a heartbeat for an extra grand a week or a better shot at a medal.

And we would be the whipping boys if somehow we won the playoffs, but so will Leeds and Burnley be, who have spent way more and have much better squads. Recently relegated teams have walked the championship the last 2 years and recently promoted teams have been mostly gubbed every week in the premier league. The quality gap between the top two leagues is now a gulf and yo-yo clubs are the new normal.

Yet 3 years ago all 3 promoted sides stayed up. One of which is going for champions league and had a cup semi final. Its far too short a sample to say promotion is dead. If you really feel the way you've posted why are you still involved in football?

This ongoing love for Short ('he was let down by the people around him') is just really weird, and always has been.

When Ellis Short took over, we were established in the Premier League. When he left, he had taken the parachute payments and we were in League One.

When Louis-Dreyfus took over, we were still in League One. We're now in the playoff places of the Championship. And still recovering from the damage of Ellis Short.

I don't like or trust Louis-Dreyfus, or frankly any football club owner. I don't like 'the model', I don't like many of the decisions he has made, especially on managers.

But FFS, there is no comparison between what the two of them have done there. It's as if the only criterion against which you judge club owners is how much of their money they waste.
It's all Shorts fault. The pittance he allowed us to spend upon relegation was nearly as bad as when Mick Mccarthy got £4m on promotion. I'm not saying he should've spent 10s of millions, but £5-10m would've been enough to stop the drop down to L1. All we needed that season that would have kept us up at least was a decent keeper. And not Camp and Steele. Regardless of what Steele did at Brighton recently we all pretty much knew he was a dodgy keeper. Less said about Camp the better.
