PAT Testing

It's standard in work places etc because of liability to the public
Like landlords. Basic skills and common sense will serve you fine at home
Or just PAT test every 3-4 years. People would buy a new TV for £400, so why not spend that sort of money PAT testing all the electrical devices in your home for piece of mind?

What if the telly sets on fire on between those long gaps between tests ?
You're convinced it's money well spent, I've saved all that money down the years
Ps don't buy £400 tellys, they're a risk
Look around £2000 ,last for years

Why don’t I just deliver all my child’s presents at Christmas in a red suit? Some things you leave to the professionals, I’m afraid.
It's a very simple thing to do.

You don't need to a fully qualified spark.

You can even do an online course.

Buy your own tester

For PAT testing? This is just standard practice. You’re playing fast and loose with your electronics. You’re the type of person that tries to win blackjack with 12 and spoil it for the rest of us.
Never heard of pat testing in a house mind and I have a gazillion devices. 99% they work and if the don't they get replaced, if a wire or plug is in a state then replace it. Pat testing is to cover companies arses when customers or staff use their equipment

Now you are just being daft. You can do a PAT tester one day course really cheap and but a PAT test machine for a lot less than £500 in total.
Do you need a fireman on standby when you fill your car with petrol? Do you only cross the road when the lollipop man is there?
