PAT Testing

TDalt

Winger
Been quoted £2k to get all electrical devices in the house PAT tested. Seems high to me, I do this every few years and I’m sure last time it was only £300-400, which is reasonable.

Anyone know anyone who can do this in East Boldon? Usually takes about a day, but provided the kettle is PAT tested first, you get unlimited cups of tea (not actually unlimited, accepting anymore than 3/4 teas is greedy and rude).

Why would you get your electrical devices at home PAT tested?
It’s best practice to get electrical devices PAT tested. I’ve been doing this for years and only ever had an old hair dryer fail, which obviously got decommissioned and disposed of the second it failed the PAT tested first.

£2k is a joke though, that’s about £50 device and some are small - i.e., blenders. I said, can you not come down on this, I know there’s been inflation, let’s do a deal here though, he was laughing in my face.
To be fair, we do an annual disaster recovery test where we live with relatives for 24 hours. Doesn't everyone do this?
That’s just silly.

Sounds like your radar to risk is a bit high to be fair mate .

OP has an emergency evacuation procedure from his semi that is practised twice a year with the local fire brigade utilising it as an additional opportunity to rehearse their Self contained breathing apparatus training procedures. In addition there’s the 6 monthly confined space training in the downstairs toilet for the kids.

Plus the risk assessment paperwork.
