Durham Club Shop

And there in lies the problem. Dare I say older fans (?) want old fashioned heavy weight materials like cotton. Players won’t entertain that. It has to be light weight polyester with a technical wicking finish. Clubs then only want in the shops what the players are wearing.
Likewise embroidery, players don’t want it. It always has to be a heat transfer which have a shelf life and if you don’t follow the washing and drying instructions to the letter you can end up ruining the product.

i dont really mind the Lion Branding, although ive one of the oddballs wooly hats from a couple of seasons ago and an American Stopped me on a walk in Corbridge to ask about the Lions, he thought it was some high school football team

I actually wouldnt mind if were Durham Lions for the T20, kinda makes sense

I raised the issue of the very limited availability of clothing with the traditional county badge at a members event in the 2023 season - I wanted a blue cap. David Jackson responded saying that the lion badged clothing massively outsold the stuff with the traditional badge. However, I received an email from him the next day saying he'd ordered a batch of blue caps with the traditional county badge. I bought one the following week and noticed they disappeared from the shop fairly quickly. It wouldn't do any harm to ask - shy bairns get nowt.

Not everything a club shop sells has to be worn by players. I get that a cricketer isn't going to want a heavy sweatshirt with embroidered badge but almost all clubs sell merchandise that isn't player worn. In the past that line at DCCC was much wider and better quality.

Take a look at any clubs retail offering and they'll do a line of branded clothing that isn't actually for playing/training
I hate this lion crack, it’s nothing to do with Durham. All the old stuff with the embroided Durham badge on is great

The Lion Logo and "For the North" feels like it was put together in the last 5 minutes of a challenge on The Apprentice.

It's just meaningless.

The Durham badge is class, but I get that they want to appeal to a younger market as well, I'm just not sure the Lion logo is the answer.

For the North is so embarrassing...

Eh? There are four heraldic white lions on the official County Durham and DCCC crest.

The D with a lion in it does look a bit naff mind

Fair point yeah but lions are often used as part of Crests and costs of arms like we don’t have a direct link with it do we

I suspect it’s done just to make it easier to print

I would have done something with the Sanctuary knocker rather than the stylised cartoon Lion. Something more unique, with a more direct link to the area.

Still at least the Lion is more relevant than Durham Jets. Whoever thought that was a good name?

Emirates Airlines who probably paid a fair sum for us to do so, but never liked the fact we played in Red and Black, i was never keen when used the MEN IN Black advertising as the Dynamos either, we should always be in Blue and Yellow, and arguably maroon too

Isn't red and black the colours of the City of Durham crest, and the blue and yellow the County Crest?

That's what I was told?
