Getting promoted - do we actually want it?

Watching the Premier highlights and seeing Ipswich put up no fight against the Mags, I’m not sure how we go from getting turned over by Oxford and Blackburn to competing with established Premier League teams in a couple of months.

This team has some talent but it is miles off being able to compete in the PL. I honestly wouldn’t mind another season in this league and letting the young players develop and hopefully continue to improve.

I’m not sure I would enjoy a season of getting battered like Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton have had. Maybe these last few weeks are just sucking the life/positivity out of me.
We need the income so going up whether we get battered or not has to be a positive.

ya gotta’ be in the Prem to have a squad capable of shithousing a trophy man. League Cup/FA Cup. Look at the bottom of the Prem now, man. Man Utd, Tottenham, West Ham, Everton.. the world has turned.. Brighton, Forrest, Fulham, Bournemouth are at the top half now! The world has turned. Look at Newcastle! Are we in this because “it was fun when we were in League One, winning most weeks” or are we in it to win trophies and establish ourselves as a proper club, like we used to be???
I know it looks daunting but f***ing hell, this is a football club, not the f***ing Boy Scouts.

Issue is though we will lose practically our entire midfield if we don’t go up.

Think we can all accept there’s no chance of us keeping Jobe if we stay in the Championship and probably Rigg too. Plus Cirkin and Neil are apparently refusing to sign new deals until they know what league will be in next season so there’s no way we won’t cash in before their deals expire next summer.

Thats a lot of cash in the bank but there’s no way I could see us investing enough of it to improve on our current position. Plus given any replacements would likely be more inexperienced projects with potential then we’d effectively be taking a step back.

From a competitive standpoint, we're nowhere near ready. But if we don't how are we ever going to compete against the parachute payments? It may take 2 or even 3 promtions before we put together a squad good enough to stay up.

Ofcourse we do. Whats the point if we don't?

We've been out the premier league for 8 years. And bar maybe 18 months in total its been fairly shite.

We get a bit more money and be able to buy some better players.
Be a nice refreshing change spending all season trying to stay up instead of fighting for promotion.
At this rate if Regis is still here come January you might get your wish even if we aren’t in the Premier next season! 🙄

Of course we do you numpty.

I dont like. championships much better. id be happy to win it and refuse promotion
That's ludicrous. There'd be no point. We may aswell just play in the reserve league.

Also who's paying for players to win the league with no view of getting a pay off from the premier league.

The players will as surely it means more money along with playing on the world stage getting experience at the top of the game and global exposure?

We would need 11 new players compete but if we don't want to go up then what is the point of league football?
