Durham v Worcestershire (A) C.C.

Parky is a white ball bowler no variation of pace, guile or flight for red ball and he does really spin or turn it much.

More of a line bowler who undercuts the ball. Mystery to me how despite producing loads of good local pace and swing bowlers.

We have no produced 1 half decent spinner since we have be going.
It's because we've concentrated on fast medium, and tbh with a lot of success, and the conditions have helped. But the past couple of years I think the need for spin has become more important.

We have a young local lad who was let go about three years ago. I thought he made a good start in short form cricket and I was disappointed when he left. My memory is not what it was and I think he was a wrist spinner but I can't recall his name. I@'m probably a bad judge but I thought there was potential there.

**Edit .... just read above, it was Ben Whitehead.

Worth noting for those shouting about Parkinson 0/123 in the 2nd team game today off 23 overs
Any idea if Liam Patterson-White is actually from Sunderland or just born here.

Now he's second fiddle to Ahmed in the spin department at Notts. I'd hope that's someone we'd want to lure back home in the case.

165 from 165 with the bat in that seconds game and then 7/54 in the first bowling innings and 2/43 in the second so far.

His FC record with ball is miles better than both of Parkinson/Drissell

Yeah was good few years back

Kiwi Harvey Nicholls has arrived at Worcestershire and available for Durham match.
He was one of the young kiwis who spent a summer with the Durham academy and played club cricket in the NEPL when we had that exchange relationship with Canterbury via Paul Wiseman probably over a decade ago now.

Jake ball and jack blatherwick join on loan for 2 games remember ball in England test set up, will bring decent experience the other lad I don't know much at all

Blatherwick played for Lancs v Durham in the ODC at Sedbergh last season iirc. There was some discussion on here about his Lancastrian surname (even though he’s from Nottingham 😁)

Not sure how much cricinfo keep their records up to date but it appears neither are recorded as having played any cricket this summer. Both last game was September 2024 for Somerset first Xl and Lancs 2nd Xl

Blatherwick played for Lancs 2nd XI in a friendly last week and picked up 5 wickets, Ball hasn't featured in any of Somerset's 2nd XI friendlies so far but was involved in the pre season games last month

Wonder if they play Potts in this as the ECB will likely pull him after this. Interesting to see which way they go selection wise.

The bowlers we have taken on loan have not done much previously be nice just to get through this match without another bowler going down.

Reading the statement on the signing of the two loaners it appears he has been rested for this match.
