C.C. Durham v Yorkshire (h)

I've gone indoors, absolutely frozen. Yorkies in here are unbearable

Remember sitting in the family stand for the T20 against them in 2022. Full of Yorks fans, we ended up moving as they were unbearable then. Thankfully no such issues with the ones in the pavilion end today.

Good days cricket, even if I did spend most of the last session in the Sticky Wicket warming up. My friend came to meet me at the tea interval, paid her fiver in and I think we saw one over before we decided it was too cold to continue

Well my memory is even more shite as I've completely forgotten about BDL. He has been very useful in the past both with bat and ball in the CC. But seemingly he wants to concentrate on white ball cricket now which I find peculiar as, despite having not played any red ball cricket, he performed better in the CC than the T20 where he specialised in bowling wides.
I got the new DCCC 2025 Yearbook today and was quite suprised at BDL's stats in red ball cricket as they weren't quite as good as I thought I remembered.
Batting
M I NO Runs HS Av
8 12 1 213 79 19.36

Bowling
O Mdn Runs Wkts BB Av Ec.
139.3 21 523 11 4/106 47.54 3.74

Where he did tend to be useful was as a partnership breaker in the style of Gareth Harte.

my memory is shite, BDL played a lot didn’t he last year? With him not here it creates an imbalanced side

I agree we need a spinner

All I’d say is Rhodes nipped in with a wicket today and one last week, decent balls too

I don’t particularly like playing no spinner though, and just having 4 medium right armers

I thought Rhodes bowled well today, his first 4/5 in particular he looked threatening. The lack of spinner is killing us, Raine and Potts are bowling too many overs.

ITKs are saying Parky is set to play five matches in the Bolton Cricket League - clearly something is up.

Strange

He will be on a decent wage too
Not has his brother played for Kent this season 🤔

Kent seconds aye, though their new coach would’ve loved a leg spinner too
Tried about six locations today. The least cold was the County Durham lower but the gobshites in there were unbearable. Heated gilet the morrow.

100% agree, warmest But couldn’t handle it

Immediately started calling then out ha

Agree he was better. He’s broke a partnership 2 games running

We are doing a bit of a disservice to Potts I think if we bowl him into the ground

Raine, I have different view on, I think he’s in the team to bowl all day, especially at that pace

He’s probs our most important player

I've never looked up his stats but from memory he put together some good bowling spells and cameo innings. One when we were in the Second Division at home against Yorkshire BDL and Patel (NZ version left arm spin right hand bat) in the first innings put on a ninth wicket partnership that more or less, with hindsight, tipped the game in our favour. The same game where Carse played a brilliant thick edge for 4 on the Sunday morning after a stressful stomach ulcer inducing 1 hour morning session (already mentioned above). Or maybe I've got the whole thing mixed up. Wouldn't surprise me. To summarise myself he was/is capable of taking wickets and scoring runs at critical times.

FFS. This seems similar to the demise of Monty Pannesar without the upward curve. After that game in the Second Division when Parky was playing for Leicestershire, and making his mouth ago in front of the County Durham Stand on a May Bank Holiday fixture, I personally despised the bloke. However since we signed him I can only let things go. However it seems like history repeating itself and proving he is a gob shite.

Left at 2.30pm yesterday but impressed with Doggetts opening spell in the first session when it was a bit warmer and he definitely swung the ball at a decent pace and if you do that in county cricket you will take wickets. Personally think he should get the new ball from now on.
Looking at the scorecard at the end of play it looks fairly even although if Yorkshire manage to add possibly another 40/50 runs i would say they will be the happier.
I see George Hill got a few for Yorkshire that lad is turning into one of those very handy all rounders that all counties need, he stays fit and either contributes with runs or wickets most games. I remember watching him 3 or 4 seasons ago at the Riverside looking good when he was a kid.

Sounds like he maybe wants away. If it was just match practice it could be done here.
The puzzle has always been the comments in the past, especially from Campbell, that they intend to play a genuine spinner and that tactic has paid off. And yet no spinner this season. Either Pasrky hasn't settled at Durham or Durham haven't settled on Parky going forward.

Not a bad shout that

Agree on Hill too could be a county stalwart

We could almost do with someone like that. Hopefully Rhodes kicks on, I have more faith jn his bowling now

Im not convinced it’s Parky myself, I think we’d have signed someone else if so. I reckon they just don’t fancy him and are trying something different
Sam Connors must be close as he was having a bit of a workout in front of the media center yesterday

Saw him was trying to work out who it was

Not convinced by this signing meself like

Both Parkinson's have had a bit of a fall from grace in the last couple of years. Neither have managed to get a game for Kent or Durham this year and couldn't get hundred gigs, now stuck playing 2nds/club cricket. They are only 28 aswell.
