County Cricket 2025

Yeah there has to be a point where they say enough is enough.

But don’t think that point is there yet

One more thing I would say, county form is important in terms of momentum for him but when I see people saying any player should get dropped for England as he is struggling at county level game, then no that’s not how it works.

You need runs in Cc to get called up in my opinion but you can’t be dropped before the international summer for poor form like. I remember India did that before the came to England Pujara was struggling in the CC and they dropped it before bringing him back

He was awful for England in the winter which is why he should be dropped he will be very lucky to keep his place

Nah, poor in NZ for sure but not scorin runs on beaches in Pakistan has no relevance

People love dropping people like, the players not in the team are always better until they are actually called up and do worst

need to give his partnership another go with Duckett first

Yeah, I see that.

Sadly the second part doesn’t seem to apply. Bethell (who has surprised everyone!) still hasn’t got a first class ton right?

True albeit he did look mint

It cant just be runs, you’re looking for players who play quick bowling and big spin well

I can’t believe he went to the IPL such a short termist move, could have nailed down an England spot but now it’s up in the air

They had a chance to give another opener a go in the summer and went for Lawrence for some bizarre reason. I don’t mind Crawley I’d definitely take him to Australia but just think he’d be lucky to keep his place in the summer

Yeah Lawrence pick was ridiculous I agree

You’re probs not wrong aye. I guess my point is he’s vital for Australia so I’d give him the chance against India, unless you don’t pick him this summer snd pick him in Australia

So long between series I don’t think it would matter. Im general England don’t pick players just to suit conditions enough, playing in turners in Pakistan and India is so different to fast bouncy wickets in Oz aint it

Crawley weirdly seems to play better against the better attacks, his 2 best series were the ashes at home then India away. Be interested to see who they go with, I just thought Bethell looked really good albeit it was only 3 tests

I think he would have probably been dropped by now if other viable alternatives?

That has to be factored in when considering that factor.

I am really hoping McKinney becomes that option as previous openers who have been tried is not the right option to go back to imo

people were saying the same thing under Root when we kept picking Sibley and Burns etc.
Duckett has came in and averaged 40, Bethell looked good in NZ batting in the top 3. There is bound to be a top order batsman out there that could average more than 30, I think they are sticking with Crawley for that ashes series though

I wasn’t mate, Sibley is the perfect batsman to pick if you not looking to win games ;)

If you want to bat out in the fourth innings of a match for a draw he your man!!

But thats a wider point, Crawley plays well against Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood

he needs to play in australia

not bothered if he plays this summer but he has to start in the ashes for me

Hundred for Bess. He’s a good cricketer him. He bowled really well for England in South Africa, can bat and field

Young enough to come back in a few years
