Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

RLB:

“Absolutely, Tommy is in my thoughts. We have choices to make as a coach and staff.

“He is connected with the team and motivated to be promoted at the end of the season.

“I’m confident about using him as a left or right winger, or in another position until the end of the season.”

From RLBs comments today it’s looking like Mayenda on the left and Enzo as the 10. Mayenda may not be a left winger but he’s a more consistent and productive player than Tommy. I’d be happy for Tommy to get some minutes from the bench in the next few games. If he shows he’s still committed then use him if we need him.

I think his new employers would rather their new £10m asset arrives fit for work on his first day, over rocking up injured.

Whether this move is best for his career remains to be seen.

Well his new employers aren't his new employers till the contract commences, SAFC can play him as we see fit. Whether the player gives his best is another matter.

Problem is, if that contract isn’t signed yet,( not sure if it is or it’s just verbally agreed he’s gonna leave at the end of the season) no matter how much of a lads fan he is, it’s always gonna be in the back of his mind not to get injured, which will always affect a players game

I’m sure it will be signed. And if that’s the case, his risk is much lower

Yep…if it signed, but I’d presume he’s under contract till June with us. Never read anything that said he’s signed his deal for Brighton just that it’s been agreed that he’s going.

I’d imagine it wouldn’t be announced unless signed
Who knows, common knowledge that Trent fella is off to Madrid, but not sure he’s signed a contract yet. Personally if I were the buying club I wouldn’t be putting ink to paper till the season ends, one bad injury and it’s 10m quid down the pan and wages to pay while he’s recouperating

That’s why neither Real or Liverpool have announced it….but we and Brighton have

The reason for signing is so no one else can jump in. Liverpool have done the same with the Valencia keeper, Chelsea with 2 lads from sporting lisbon

I dunno, not sure anyone does for certain? And news of him going for the decent contract would have came out anyway, maybe just heading off rumours. Fact still remains if your off to the dizzy heights of Brighton, I’d be making damn sure I wouldn’t be getting injured in the meantime which will inevitably affect how you play the game/ challenges you go into

It’s signed. The club has the cash, it was all agreed in Jan so effectively we’ve got the deal we wanted a sale with loan back.

By that logic anyone that signs on loan somewhere else would worry about being injured. He’s effectively on loan here now (I’m assuming it’s signed; but it would be absurd if it wasn’t)

Not really on loan tho, he’s just waiting for the end of the season, counting the days down till he’s off to the south coast
