Because it was a crap contract. You think that may be a possibility?
Are you suggesting he’s leaving against his will?

Should we be making him one of our highest earning players to match watch Brighton are paying like? This is the case

No mate that’s not what I saidShould we be making him one of our highest earning players to match watch Brighton are paying like?
Don't forget there was rumours of them wanting him last summer. Being wanted can't be underestimatedHave you never left a job for what you felt was a better one somewhere else? It doesn't necessarily mean you hate where you were, or the people there or that you will be disruptive whilst working your notice. It is possible to leave on good terms.
He obviously feels he has a better deal somewhere else and the club have accepted the offer. I am disappointed he is leaving, but as a young lad, it is his career choice and I don't hold that against him.
Negotiations have been going on for ages and he was wanted in January, the deals have been agreed so whilst the timing isn't great, it was all pretty much out in the open anyway, so why try and pretend it isn't happening?
indeed. Pontentially a forgotten man in that team. Im sure Brighton will look elsewhere. They got so many wingers. I dont understand why Watson decided to go there. Very bad move this.Watson to subs bench or on loan to a club in Belgium
He’s miles away from being a regular at the level brighton play at
Bit of a shithole ffsDon’t live there but a bit of a shithole really….
Watson shouldn’t be playing now unless we have no other options.
I am a little worried that we sometimes seem to have trouble negotiating new contracts
Clarke, Watson, potentially Neil and Cirkin.
It's all a fine balance isn't it. There's an element of squad harmony to take into account too, you dish out a bumper contract to keep a player like Ross Stewart on 35k for example, then the rest of the squad will want parity.I am a little worried that we sometimes seem to have trouble negotiating new contracts
Clarke, Watson, potentially Neil and Cirkin. The club did well to get Rigg to sign on, but if he doesn’t go anywhere this summer then his will probably need extending to give the club security. That will be a tough negotiation where the player undoubtedly holds all the cards.
I’m all for wage structure but they may have to try pushing the boat out a little more if we’re to hold onto our top talents, or at least be in a position to get decent fees for them.
Maybe..All you Watson haters, just wait, in a few years time you will be bragging about him being a mackem when he is playing for England
Going to be mental start of next season when we see him there and he’s bulked up massively over the summer, like that time Colback did
