Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Neil, Bellingham and Rigg have appeared far more than Watson, yet none have been pursued as much as him by a PL club. A shrewd observer of the game who I spoke to last year rated Watson as possibly the best of all our youngsters. Having finally watched Watson in first team action (starting, not coming off the bench) I agreed with him. Your post is valid.
Frankly I’d watched him for the under 21’s and thought he looked fast very skilful and so exciting but never thought he could perform as he did when he came into the first team. I believe we have lost the best we have a real gem, but that’s modern football I guess

He’s hardly gonna rot his career away in six weeks. He won’t want to play in our stripes again this season. We shouldn’t want him too. He can’t possibly be 100% committed and isn’t the most tackley type player anyway.
I reckon he’ll be house hunting in East Sussex for the rest of the season.

It was always a dead end for most of them even when playing for Sunderland or Seaham boys. 95% are out of all organised football by 25 atm.
Aye but Seaham & District U12s did not routinely travel as far as Blackburn for an away match.

ROB confirmed we turned down offers to try and get him to sign a new contract
He will be involved stilln

Are they hard nosed professionals or just sheep? They see the big bucks now and lots of them grab it even though long term it might be not best for their career. No doubt led by talentless wanker's like Danny Graham

Clarke should never have gone to Ipswich, they were always likely to struggle. He got a big signing on fee and a big wage increase but he has done nothing at all for his career.

I think the Bellingham's are very clued up. The move to Dortmund was perfect for Jude. Jobe's move here was the right level for him too. I think Rigg also made a wise move. There's no rush when you have talent in your late teens, you have another 15 years of a career in front of you. You need first team football not under 21's or a loan to a random club.
Couldn’t agree more.
 Don't be daft man.
What do you mean like?

I'm going to struggle to get excited about any prospect going forward, knowing they'll be sold pretty effing quickly. I don't find excitement in being a development farm team for mediocre prem clubs. We can't even offer competitive championships wages now. Austerity austerity austerity.

I like the lad, and he'll go on to have a decent career you would expect, but there's absolutely no way he'll be starting for Brighton next season, no matter who they sell
He’s barely showed that he’s good enough to start in the championship yet. I mean I wouldn’t have him ahead of mundle or even pushing le fee out wide so he’d be third choice right now. There’s no way he’s ready to start for a clubs that has ambitions for the top ten every season. He will start the season in the squad get five mins here and there then be loaned out in the winter window to the championship.

I would like Safc to be as mediocre as Brighton right now mind. Watson didn't want to stay, let him go

Never watched him before he broke into the seniors but he was the name everyone mentioned. Let's see if any club is as keen to show interest in anyone else - many might not agree, but I am not sure if Bellingham is quick enough for the PL.

That's what the academy is for, bring them through and sell them for big money
