Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Shame he didn’t wait to see if we went up but even with the increasingly unlikely chance we do it’s likely to be a relegation battle which he might not fancy. I assume he’s got a decent contract and the Ross Stewart situation shows that a career can be over at a youngish age.

good business from the club IMHO.
Expect the deal was in place in January - which is why he went for medical - but we kept him for rest of the season.
Also suspect a bit of positioning with Neil / Rigg / Jobe agents (and other clubs) basically saying we don't need to sell now.
If we can use the 10m to protect those assets, and increase them in value then it's even better business from the club.

Genuinely feel we are making progress here with the model and that the club is being run properly for the first time in god knows how long.

When you've been supporting the club for almost half a century, a few more years development is something i can absorb.

To be fair though, last thing they'll want is him flying into tackles or whatever and getting injured. He won't want it, they won't want it. If he doesn't perform brilliantly they'll likely put it down to him keeping himself right for the move, don't think they'd hold it against him. If we're a goal down in a play off I don't think I'd want to see him coming on.

Flying into tackles isn’t his game though. His transfer sounds contractually bound.
Hence he’s effectively playing on loan to us.
Everyone including Brighton will expect commitment and noticeable improvement

That’s going to be the biggest issue people’s perception unless he’s playing like Pele.

For me another worry is the frequency of ‘stars’ leaving could grow a culture where thats players aims rather than getting the club anywhere.
You’d feel like that in a company where colleagues are constantly f***ing off.
Id like to see a bit more resistance than we have to date when bids come in.
Seems its a case of knickers straight down 😂

Can only think the club was told to announce it in order to control the narrative. I believe Brighton followed our announcement. Somebody must have forced the club to do this before seasons end, probably for nefarious reasons. Agent probably said announce it coz I'm putting it on Twitter that he's off.

He’s gonna get booed to fuck if he plays. Pointless him being here. Bizarre situation.

I'd disagree, I know we don't know the inside story but it seems to me we've tried to reject bids for the likes of Clarke and Watson but there's very little you can do when the player wants to leave or the contract is running down.

Our model is to sell on as it's the only way we can make money in the championship. Getting £10m for a player who's had one decent game is very good business in my opinion.

However it's a shame he didn't look at the likes of Neil, Patterson or Rigg and see how he really could have developed given a couple of seasons. I can't see him breaking into the Brighton team anytime soon but who knows what his potential is.

Hard to see him playing again mind, maybe Regis will be different but I'd only want committed players

Just feel if others who excel are shipped out next 2 or 3 windows feeling toward the board will really change.

Fine balance I know but they dont seem hellbent on progression.

He clearly has loads of potential but at this stage that’s all it is given he’s only had two decent games for us. Shame that after 12 years of development the club have put into him he doesn’t have any inclination to stay and actually play first team football.
Too harsh. Brighton is an excellent club where he'll be nurtured and eased into the first team. It's a good move for him.
Fine with it so long as he doesn't play anymore games this season, he's not our player anymore and we shouldn't be developing another teams player unless we argee'd to on a loan deal.
How about looking at it another way - he plays well for us and helps us get promoted.
