Look North. Again.

Let's be honest them winning is a relief, as it was just not that bad. The worst thing I've heard is i wish safc could win something so you know how it feels. Bastards.
Dunno about ā€œreliefā€! 🤣
But I agree it’s not that bad.
Just hope they don’t win any more!

Not even watching Sky Sports News!….From the odds n sods that I saw yesterday their coverage of the ā€˜parade’ was sick-making.
Any remember them doing coverage of any other ā€œbigā€ clubs having a parade for the third biggest trophy in English football. Hope they aren’t doing the scouse nawwwwshun dirty and do three days of back to back coverage of their parade.

I’m not risking having any local news on for at least a couple more weeks šŸ˜€
Look North is a thoroughly depressing watch. All child poverty, NHS problems, school problems, frequently previous night's problems articles revisited, food banks, businesses in difficulties, it's almost as if the BBC are trying to depress the population. The articles require no intelligent journalistic enquiry. We'd all be better off with 30 minutes of old Tom And Jerry cartoons every weekday night.

Journalistic rigour seems to have disappeared
Exception being Alison freeman who seems to do good stories not bound up with health raising awareness! Or another food bank in Hartlepool

I am not saying that people shouldn't be aware of or concerned about social and world issues but they manner in which they are inundated with them by the media 24/7 isn't good for the general well-being.

Back in the day people had to wait until they got the 5 o'clock Echo in order to find out whether war had been declared. There were news bulletins during the day but people were at work so generally they had some relief from being bombarded with bad news in the way that we are now.

The worst innovation is 24 hour TV news which tends to show footage of disasters or violence like bombings and wars on a repetitive loop during the day giving the impression that whatever is happened is still going on and from which there isn't any escape. The simple fact is however that as the news doesn't occur with the same regularity during the day or from day to day 24 hour news channels have to fill in time with what they have and consequently they will make a meal out of what footage and information that they've got.

In my opinion wall to wall "news" is not doing anyone any good and I agree that we would be better off with a bit more Tom & Jerry.

Nail on head Pottsy.

On the Monday teatime Look North the weekend's football news is usually in order Newcastle, Middlesbrough, then Sunderland, despite the fact that Sunderland are higher in the table than Boro, a larger population, a city, and Boro is on the edge of the BBC Newcastle coverage. It's blatantly intended to belittle Sunderland. Pathetic really.
The last bit is not really true. We still get BBC Newcastle down where I am living these days which is past theirs and into solidly Leeds United territory. They have a transmitter on the top near Thirsk.
